Commissioned Security Officer
JOB SUMMARY
The Commissioned Security Officer will provide a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, and congregants. This position will be available to answer questions and obtain information from congregants, visitors, and other interested parties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Greet visitors and congregants in a professional, courteous, and friendly manner
- Answer phone calls in a professional and courteous manner, route and screen calls and respond to inquiries from staff, congregants and visitors and provide information about the Church
- Create and maintain reports on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, safety and fire hazards and other related situations
- Maintain sign in visitor logs
- Provide visitors with identification cards and arrange for escorts to take visitors to the proper office or meeting room
- Monitor facilities access control system
- Ensure secure facility after hours by making rounds of assigned area
- Provide for the safety of staff, visitors, and congregants
- Securing the church each night before leaving. Check all outer doors, set alarm, and secure various gates as you leave
- Traffic cone service operating golf cart (setup and pickup) for weekend Church services and special events
- Picking up and storing traffic cones in storage shed
- Walk perimeter of building, checking for suspicious behavior, check inside and outside doors.
- Patrol parking lot, lock outside gates
- Direct traffic as needed during special events
- Complies with and enforces all church policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
- Complies with and enforces all OSHA policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, and reports incidents and/or violations as required
- Attend and work CBC events as needed
- Other duties as needed

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a Part-time position. Days and hours of work depend on operational needs of the church. Evening, weekend, and holiday duties are required for this position. Scheduled hours of shift work as follows 6:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. or 2:00p.m. -10:00 p.m.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to do the following:
- Must have the ability to patrol the property and access areas quickly
- Must have good manual dexterity and be able to use repetitive motion of the hands and arms
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk monitoring surveillance equipment
- Must be able to move about inside and outside the building to perform a variety of tasks
- Must be able to frequently and effectively communicate in both written and verbal form
- Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds and/or push/pull objects up to 100 pounds
- Frequently reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Must be physically able to capture and detain individuals if necessary
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
- Must be able to carry a firearm and other security equipment at all times
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Security/Law experience preferred
- One year of on-the-job training experience, preferred
- CPR certification, preferred
- Must be willing able to obtain a Level IV certification through the DPS/PSB (Required)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Duties are performed in a variety of settings to include, outside, office and technical settings where the work and general environment may be fast-paced and hectic at times. Therefore, it is essential that the employee can effectively handle the normal anxieties associated with the job and manage multiple projects in service-oriented environment. Environmental noise levels are moderate.
