Commercial Finish Carpenter
WORKSITES: 60-MILE RADIUS OF QUAKERTOWN (Tri-State Area, PA)
The Commercial Finish Carpenter exists to complete the final details and finishing touches on commercial construction projects. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to work with a variety of materials and tools to ensure a high-quality finished product.
Essential (Core Competencies) Duties
Perform finish carpentry tasks such as installing trim, moldings, doors, windows, cabinetry, and other interior finishes in commercial buildings.
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to understand project requirements and execute tasks accurately.
Select, measure, and prepare materials needed for finishing tasks, ensuring precision and quality in all cuts and installations.
Install various finish carpentry components, including baseboards, crown moldings, wainscoting, and custom woodwork, ensuring alignment and fit are perfect.
Sand, stain, varnish, or paint wood surfaces to achieve the desired finish and aesthetic quality.
Inspect and verify the quality of finished work, making adjustments as necessary to ensure adherence to project specifications and high craftsmanship standards.
and maintain carpentry tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and used safely.
Work collaboratively with other trades, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless project execution and resolve any issues that arise during the finishing process.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Other Duties as a Commercial Carpenter
Accurately measure height, width, length, and other proportions.
Basic material take-off to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.
Perform proper layout for work to be put in place.
Move building materials to proper workspace.
Work with materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and/or drywall.
Utilize appropriate tools and materials to build or repair structural components.
Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
Use levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers to ensure everything is level and secure.
Check work along the way to ensure it meets specification and quality standards.
Work with light-gauge and load-bearing steel framing for building interior partitions, soffits, exterior framing, and curtain wall construction.
Build and/or install windows, roof systems, stairs, blocking.
Cut, hang, and install drywall with minimum waste.
Install all types of ceiling grid systems (standard, slotted, and specialty products).
Install millwork and casework.
Install doors, frames, and hardware.
Install bath accessories and in-wall blocking.
Install exterior sheathing.
Install insulation.
Always exercise the proper use of PPE.
Set up and safely use company equipment.
Qualifications
Preferred Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
Participation in a secondary or post-secondary trade curriculum
7+ years’ experience completing the final details and finishing touches on commercial construction projects.
7+ years’ experience field carpentry experience Knowledge and experience working with commercial carpentry tools and building materials
Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE

Work Environment
Carpenters work indoors and outdoors on many types of construction projects, with varying degrees of exposure to the elements. This may include extreme heat (>85 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), extreme cold (<32 degrees for longer than one hour of exposure), excessive humidity and noise. Some hazards may be present such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, toxic/caustic chemicals, and slippery/uneven walking surfaces.
Physical Requirements Continued
Due to the physical nature of the position, employee must have full dexterity of their hands and arms.
Employee must be able to see objects close and far away
At times, multiple sounds can be heard as employee is working on job, employee must have the ability to focus on the sound in particular that is associated with the task they are completing. Employees with any sort of hearing impairment would not be considered fit for duty to perform this position.
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position, at all times, employee must be fit for duty and not report to work under the influence of a mind altering or performance altering substance. At no time, should employee be found to be possessing or using a mind or performance altering substance while performing any Company task.
