Coach/Tutor - Sacramento
At EDMO, Coaches spend their time connecting with kids, honing leadership skills and making a real impact. Our positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents, while pursuing your own personal and professional goals and passions. Spend your time developing translatable and transferable professional skills (like mentoring and curriculum development) while growing social emotional learning skills side by side with the kids (like collaboration, empathy and problem solving).
The in-person Coach/tutor is responsible for teaching one-on-one tutoring sessions in subjects of your choice with your own curriculum during your unique availability in the family’s home in the cities of your choosing. The in-person Coach/Tutor will also have the opportunity to teach class and camp programs using EDMO designed curriculum, if desired.
Main duties include:
- Approach education with passion and excitement and build positive role model relationships with children
- Maintain good communication with families about scheduling and children's needs
- Set-up, organize, and manage the needed supplies and curriculum for coaching sessions
- For EDMO Classes - instruct as many as 15 children in given curriculum during predetermined meeting dates
- Refine curriculum and add personal contributions with guidance of the Programs Manager for EDMO classes
- Interact with families in a professional and energetic manner
- Help cultivate healthy self-esteem and a natural love for learning
- Instill the EDMO Vibe by demonstrating, through actions, each of the key character skills of empathy, responsibility, initiative, collaboration, problem solving and emotional management, while also reinforcing these qualities in other staff and children
Position reports to: Remote Programs Director and Region Manager

Preferred qualifications are:
- Experience (and a love for!) working with kids
- Must have reliable transportation to get to in-person coaching sessions
- High sense of responsibility and dependability
- Contagious enthusiasm and charisma
- Strong team player
- Creative, flexible, and excellent multi-tasker
- Willingness to solve problems, be patient, and remain positive and fun
- Experience facilitating groups of children (in-person or online) and/or working with youth programs
- Classroom management and teaching experience is a HUGE plus
- Bachelor's Degree/Degree in progress in a related field or relevant experience in the subject area
Curriculum specific experience may include:
- Experience playing a musical instrument
- Language proficiency
- Experience with an art medium
- ANY extensive experience with a particular subject matter (paired with a background working with kids)
- Familiarity with Minecraft, Roblox, Scratch, Stop Motion editing, 3D modeling software, and coding in general a plus
Must have a reliable form of transportation
COVID Specific
- Must wear mask during all work hours
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
CPR/First Aid Certification is required by the full time start date. Certification may be from an online class. You will also need to be LiveScan fingerprinted before the start date and some compensation will be available.
Additional Info:
- Coaching sessions are 1 hour long and can include up to 1 child
- Salary: $22-25 /hour + paid prep time
- Mileage paid for (to and from $0.56/mile)
- Hours for coach program: You make your own hours based on your availability
- Program launches January 2022
