Southampton Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Southampton, Ontario and serves 88 residents. Southampton is a lakeside community on Lake Huron, known for its white sand beaches, historic downtown, and cultural arts scene. Situated at the mouth of the Saugeen River and approximately 49 km south of Owen Sound, it provides a peaceful atmosphere for residents and visitors alike, with diverse dining options, local shops, and activities suited for beach-goers and art enthusiasts.
Join our team as a Co-Environmental Services Manager!
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Co-Environmental Services Manager ensures the provision of effective Housekeeping, Laundry and Maintenance Services for the Home, residents and staff in collaboration with the Environmental Services Manager.
The Co-Environmental Services Manager is primarily responsible for building and property maintenance, including routine repairs, preventative maintenance, and coordinating major repairs. The role also involves meticulous inventory management, ensuring the home’s aesthetic appeal and sanitation through interior/exterior clean-up and waste management, and preparing facility spaces for use. Operational safety is a core requirement, mandating the safe operation of equipment, prompt reporting of hazards, and strict adherence to WHMIS and OHS standards. Administrative duties include documenting maintenance activities and conducting facility audits. The position requires participation in professional development, collaboration with team members, fiscally responsible use of resources, and performing other assigned duties to maintain smooth facility operations and promote resident wellness.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
Experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity which may also include experience and demonstrated leadership in the health care field/setting or a relevant field/setting in accordance with the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021 ss.70 and Ontario Regulation ss. 98/22 (2) preferred;
A post-secondary degree or diploma is preferred;
Knowledge of evidence-based practices and prevailing practices relating to housekeeping, laundry and maintenance as applicable; and
1 year of maintenance related work experience preferred
Ability to perform minor repairs (i.e. caulking, patching and painting of walls)
Strong attention to detail
Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
Must understand oral and written instructions
Valid Driver’s License
