CNC PROGRAMMER/OPERATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION  

Shift:

3:00 pm - 11:30 pm
 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under direct guidance, direction, and oversight: Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output. Planning the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job, programming measurements, and marking material for cutting or shaping on VIP aircraft modifications in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.     Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.

2.     Plan the sequence of necessary actions for the completion of a job to meet blueprint requirements.

3.     Knowledge of proper working material per engineering documentation and taking measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping

4.     Knowledge on importing modes from Solid Works and programming tool paths on Mastercam

5.     Select appropriate size of batches, speed of machine, etc.

6.     Select appropriate tooling for Anderson Stratus Pro-3 axis router and position material for job

7.     Observe company rules and regulations, including housekeeping and proper use of safety methods and the safe operation of equipment.

8.     Adheres to all record-keeping requirements and paperwork to ensure work is performed I.A.W stated documents and following the protocol of RSQM and IOP’s.

9.     Monitor machine while working to adjust the feed, maintain temperatures, identify issues, and perform preventive maintenance.

10.   Mentor junior collogues in proficiencies of running CNC Programming/Operation

11.   Ensure a clean and safe work environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

1.     High School Diploma, or GED, plus proven experience as a machinist.

2.     Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (CNC, grinders etc.)

3.     Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

4.     Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Able to read, interpret and understand blueprints.
2. Must be self-starting and motivated with the desire to learn.
3. Ability to apply the use of routine to complex mathematical problems to solve work issues.
4. Ability to comprehend and retain OJT.
5. Ability to read measuring devices such as a scale or caliper or other required tools.
6. Ability to use basic shop equipment (drill press, band saw, sander, etc.).
7. Ability to use basic hand tools (grinder, drill motor, wrenches, etc.).
8. Ability to read and write English.
9. Strong ability to provide verbal and written communication.
10. Mastercam experience.
11. Anderson Router experience preferred.

The location where this position works is in an aircraft hangar environment which could be subject to weather changes and is subject to constant exposure to loud noise, potential contact with hazardous waste material, heavy machinery, and other safety hazards such as cabinets, etc.
