Job Summary:

Troubleshoots, sets-up, and operates machines, tooling, fixtures, gauges and assists first shift operators with these duties.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

• Assist operators in the reading and interpreting of blueprints, process sheets, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, set-up procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences.

• Provides technical assistance to operators to ensure proper mounting, aligning, and securing of tooling, attachments, and work piece on the machines.

• Assist operators where required to adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out of tolerance machining. When automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions, assist operator in troubleshooting.

• Inspects and measures “first piece” parts to maintain quality requirements.

• Meet daily with the CNC Manager to review the schedule, priorities, and other daily tasks.

• Follow-up on jobs as they progress. Communicate any issues/concerns with the CNC Manager.

• Train new and lower level operators.

• Maintain production workflow by monitoring operator attendance, breaks, and meal periods.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

• Trade, vocational, or associate’s degree in manufacturing technology or related program.

• 5 years experience as an A or B level operator.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

• Ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing.

• Excellent attention to detail.

Equipment, Machines And Software Used:

This position requires the regular use of CNC Machines, hand tools, power tools, gauges, etc.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

• Moderate mental and visual attention required for performing manual work, machine operations, set-ups, inspections, and adjustments that require frequent decisions to detect and adjust for variance from proper operation.

• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, grasp, talk, hear and perform repetitive motions. The individual is frequently required to push and pull. The individual is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and lift.

Environmental Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that may be encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to inside and outside environmental conditions. The individual is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, potential for physical injury, and fumes, strong odors or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud. Employees are required to wear ear, eye and foot protective safety equipment.

Noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

Vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

Occupational hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat, exposure to chemicals, exposure to serious injury (e.g. crushed fingers, extensive burns, broken bones).

Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

Oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and/or other lubricating or cutting fluids.
