CNC Machinist

Sparrow Company is looking for a CNC Machinist for one of our clients in Jackson, TN.

Summary: Set up and operate a variety of machines, including CNC, automatic screw machines, and dial and in-line transfer machines to produce required product(s). 

Primary responsibilities

• Set up and operate a variety of machines – CNC lathes, CNC drills, CNC mills, automatic screw, dial, and in-line transfer – to produce required product(s) according to specifications/ prints.

• Maintains tooling while operating machines.

• Read and interpret blueprints and / or work from verbal and / or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.

• Determine specifications for inspection of work using precision measuring and gaging tools, performing required inspection before, during, and after machining.

• Change tooling and/or tool holders to maintain machine settings to produce a quality product throughout production.

• Lubricate machines daily or as needed.

• Maintain appropriate KanBan records, levels, etc.

• As required, palletize material coming to machine from preceding operation.

• Maintain neat and orderly work area.

• Remove chips and shavings as needed and place into hopper or lugger provided. 

• Perform other related responsibilities as needed and as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required

• Ability to prioritize work and work with minimal supervision. 

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints 

• Must be able to read and utilize the following measuring instruments: 6 to 12” scale, vernier calipers, comparator, pin gauge, thread gauges, and micrometer.

• Must be able to read, write, and perform simple to moderate mathematical calculations. 

• Three (3) to five (5) years prior successful experience operating CNC lathes, CNC drills, and washers. 

• Skill and ability to operate machines precisely with high degree of attention to make quality products and perform job in safe manner.  

• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.

• Ability to stand for extended periods.

• Experience with Mazak, Kitamura, Hass, Tsugami preferred.
