What You’ll Do:
- Operate Advanced CNC Machines: Set up, run, and monitor CNC water jet and plasma cutting machines to cut materials with precision, ensuring each component meets exact specifications.
- Blueprint Reading & CAD Work: Interpret detailed naval blueprints and schematics to determine cutting paths and machine settings. Use CAD software to adjust cutting layouts and optimize efficiency.
- Hands-On Material Setup: Load and align materials on cutting tables, and use forklifts and other handling equipment to prep jobs quickly and safely.
- Quality Control & Inspections: Use precision tools like calipers and micrometers to inspect your work and ensure every cut is accurate and flawless.
- Maintenance & Problem-Solving: Keep the machines running smoothly with routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs.
- Work Safely: Follow safety protocols and wear proper PPE to maintain a secure and organized workspace.

- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience with CNC cutting, plasma systems, or welding.
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in CNC operation, fabrication, or welding.
- Forklift certification or experience with material-handling equipment.
- Strong math skills, especially related to measurements and geometric calculations.
Working Conditions:
- Shipboard & Shipyard Work: You’ll often work onboard ships, in dry docks, or in outdoor areas. The environment can be fast-paced and occasionally exposes you to extreme temperatures, outdoor elements, and high noise levels.
