Full Time RN/LPN
Charleston GI has been developing since 1989, our practice is the first and largest gastroenterology practice in the Lowcountry to operate a physician's practice and three nationally certified and state licensed endoscopy centers. Our team includes eleven outstanding Board Certified Gastroenterologists, with a combined experience of over 100 years of treating patients.

We are looking to add a nurse to our clinical team. The nurse directly assists the physicians with the daily duties of caring for their patients. Assists in managing daily clinic operations, directing the physician and PCTs in an accurate fashion to aid in smooth operation and patient flow. Acts as a liaison between the patients and physicians. Receives and triages the incoming patient calls. Has ability to determine medical priorities and discuss them with physicians in a timely appropriate manner. Sets patient appointments, answers questions and directly confers with the physicians following telephone triage. Efficiently and accurately carries out the orders given by the physicians following each patient interaction. Documents all encounters with the patient. Documents the nurse/patient/physician interactions as outlined by the office policy.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and organizes the tasks for today's schedule in accordance to the physician's assignment
- Organize MD's schedules making any necessary preparations including checking patient charts for the upcoming appointments
- Provide leadership to patient care team in maintaining orderly and efficient/timely flow of patients as per office schedule
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process
- Telephone triage. Returns all pertinent voice mail messages and miscellaneous calls. Documents the assessments of the patient's symptoms and needs, conferences with the physician and the planned interventions.
- Provides leadership to the patient care team in maintaining the organization of the Physician's clinic and endoscopy schedules. Adjusts the schedule throughout the day as dictated by patient needs.
- Assists physician as needed with physical examinations, in office procedures and patient education.
- Acts as a liaison between physicians and patients by calling patients with the results of imaging, lab work, procedures/biopsies, and any other communication as directed by the physician. Documents all nurse/patient conversations as per office policy.
- Completes medical forms and presents forms for physician approval and signature
Qualifications:
Experience: clinical experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the professional nursing theory and practice, to give and evaluate patient care
- Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Demonstrates initiative, insight and judgment in making decisions.
- Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to provide on-going patient care
- Skill in identifying problems and recommending solutions
- Skill in complete and thorough documentation
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
- Ability to analyze situations and apply critical thinking
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Current licensure as a RN/LPN in the state of South Carolina or current licensure as a RN/LPN in another Compact state
- Current BLS certification
