Class 5 - Driver

The Class 5 - Driver is directly responsible for the pickup and delivery of loads by operating the 1- or 3-ton truck.
The Class 5 - Driver will be responsible for:
• Performing a daily pre-trip truck and equipment inspection, including an electronic pre-trip inspection
• Following written and verbal instructions from the Shipping Supervisor for deliveries and pickups
• Loading and unloading – by hand when required – lumber, roof trusses, pallets, shingles, drywall, and other related building materials.
• Ensuring that every load is secured appropriately, according to all safety and legal requirements.
• Counting items on every load to ensure the counts match the attached paperwork.
• Assisting the warehouse/yard team with staging loads, in assigned areas.
• Tagging products with relevant information (e.g., Sales Order #, Purchase Order #, customer reference, etc.)
• Completing all required paperwork and returning the same to the Shipping Supervisor after each run
• Other duties as assigned.
The Class 5 – Driver will have:
• A valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s License
• Clean driver’s abstract
• Forklift licensed or experience to operate a truck mounted forklift.
• Basic knowledge of routine maintenance (e.g., checking oil, gauges, fluid levels & tire pressure)
• Lift and carry up to 50lbs for an extended period.
• A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
