About the Role
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex civil engineering and land development projects from concept through completion. In this pivotal role, you will serve as the primary client representative—ensuring strong communication, technical excellence, and project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget.
You will provide oversight across all aspects of project design, permitting, and execution while mentoring project teams and contributing to the ongoing growth and success of the firm.
What You Will Do
- Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality land development and civil engineering projects on schedule and within budget.
- Coordinate and oversee all project phases—planning, design, permitting, and construction support.
- Manage client relations across multiple projects, ensuring responsive, solution-oriented communication.
- Identify potential design or construction issues and provide proactive recommendations to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Prepare and manage project proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans.
- Ensure quality control standards are met on all project deliverables.
- Participate in contract negotiations, approve client billing, and manage scope changes and receivables.
- Pursue new project opportunities and maintain ongoing relationships with clients, agencies, and industry partners.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers, conduct performance reviews and support staff advancement.
- Provide leadership and input into firmwide decisions regarding staffing, resource allocation, and project strategies.
- Commit resources as necessary to meet project goals, issuing work authorizations and direction in accordance with client agreements.
- Perform additional duties as required to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
Supervisory Duties
- Supervise and mentor project engineers, designers, and staff.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
- Provide technical oversight and staff development opportunities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, including project management and land development design for a variety of project types (private, municipal, recreational, educational).
- Proven track record managing multiple complex projects and client relationships.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of site grading, drainage, utility design, cost estimating, permitting processes, and construction documentation.
- Exceptional communication (oral, written, listening), organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong time management and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated success managing, mentoring, and developing engineering staff.
- Knowledge of civil plan preparation and construction submittals for local agency review and approval.
- Experience collaborating with interdisciplinary teams (civil, landscape, architectural).
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal permitting procedures and agency coordination.
- High sense of urgency and self-initiative in meeting deadlines and client needs.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, and use hands to handle, feel, and reach.
- Must be able to lift and move 50 pounds occasionally.
The Position
The Senior Project Manager position is a full-time, salaried-exempt role requiring approximately 40 hours per week. Work is primarily onsite with flexible and hybrid work options available.
Salary Range: $125,000 – $160,000 (commensurate with experience)
