Children's Play Center Monitor
This position is responsible in supervising and leading activities in
the Zone Area, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The Zone Monitor will
create a safe, caring, and engaging environment conducive to building trust
with all members. This is a part-time position, 15 to 30 hours per week,
availability on weekdays from 3:30 PM - 8:00 PM and some availability on
weekends and PD days.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises, leads, and instructs children and/or youth in the RGC Zone in a sports, games., crafts & other indoor activities. day camp setting.
- Leads camps, PD day activities and other children/youth events at RGC.
- Works in a team environment to ensure every participant has a quality, safe, and fun experience while at the Royal Glenora Club.
- Creates a positive engaging atmosphere for participants and creates a fun, skill-building, and educational experience through games and activities that are safe and appropriate for all participants.
- Actively engages and supports children’s participation during sport activities.
- Participates in program planning and evaluation of programs.
- Actively and enthusiastically participates in all aspects of child and youth programs including swimming, gym sports/games, arts & crafts and more.
- Guides and encourages active participation of all children in activities.
- Monitors attendance and safety of all participants.
- Set-up, take-down, and general maintenance of equipment and facility.
- Creates weekly plans of camps; plan all activities in advance in order to communicate information to parents and participants.
- Demonstrate leadership, energy, and enthusiasm to the zone environment each day
- Enforces program rules pertaining to safety
- Administers first aid in case of injury and completes an incident report form on all injuries.
- Involvement in planning and budgeting for supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- 2 years’ experience working with and supervising children.
- Experience planning and/ or leading engaging activities with children
- Coaching or leadership training and experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience as a sports, arts & crafts, theatre, or dance instructor would be an asset.
- A passion for working with children and the ability to keep them engaged.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team. - Vulnerable Sector Check, or the ability to obtain, prior to starting.
- Possession of Standard First AID/CPR-C certification
