What do we need from you?

As a Child Care Fitness & Recreation Teacher, you are responsible to plan, develop, coordinate, and teach fitness and recreation programs for children aged 0-6 years old for all the Kepler Academy centres throughout Edmonton and the surrounding area.

*Hours of teaching range between 8:30AM-12:00PM and 2:00PM-4:30PM Monday-Friday*

What will you do?

• Identify and creatively utilize available resources for program delivery
• Plan fitness activities to utilize the physical areas available for programs, both inside and outside the facilities
• When using external or community recreational facilities, ensure they are clean, safe, and well-maintained before children’s attendance
• Continuously identify and implement age-appropriate programs to meet the needs of the children in our centres
• Evaluate the programming by seeking feedback to ensure that all programs are run smoothly and are meeting the needs of the centres and children
• Interact with Centre Directors for scheduling needs to meet the centres requirements for their music programs
• Teach a variety of classes with preschool children's needs and abilities incorporated in the program
• Develop and maintain records for all fitness and recreational programs for reporting purposes

Required Qualifications to Work at Kepler Academy:

• A foundational understanding of physical literacy, fitness instructing, recreation and/or physical education, and a passion for sharing fitness with young children
• Experience in fitness and/or recreation programming and instruction of group classes, preferably with children.
• Certified instructor in yoga, dance, and/or other children’s movement programs are an asset
• Child Development Certificate issued in the Province of Alberta, Level 1, 2 or 3 is an asset
• Current criminal record check, including vulnerable sector search
