Wage: $24.00 - $26.25
per hour + $6 BC ECE Wage Enhancement
Hours: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week
Location: Nanaimo, BC

Job Duties
Early Years Programs Responsibilities
• Ensure that the early years programs meet all VIHA Community Care Licensing requirements. This includes initial onboarding of children and families, updating of registration documents and to maintain program enrollment targets.
• Conduct early years program assessments to develop individualized and group curriculum that meet the developmental needs of the children within the program. Work with the ECE team to create meaningful and enriching programming that uses the BC Early Learning Framework.
• Participate in the creation of individual care or medical plans with parents and/or caregivers and other BGCCVI staff/stakeholders, when required, to fulfill the needs of the child.
• Maintains liaison with professionals. Responsible for maintaining effective relationships with parents/caregivers and other stakeholders. Involve the parents/caregivers in the decision- making process as it relates to the growth of their child at the Club.
• Responsible for the management and support of program staff including but not limited to interviewing, orientation/onboarding, performance management, facilitation of staff meetings, staff supervision and training.
• Works with other Program Supervisors and administrative departments to ensure early years programs and organizational perpetual actions and reporting are completed in timely manner. This includes financial reporting, billing, registration, and enrollment.
Centre Responsibilities
· Maintains a high level of excellence in relation to VIHA Community Care Licensing regulations, BGC Operating Standards, Work Safe BC Regulation and BGCCVI Policy and procedures.
· Provide Supervision and Performance Management to the Early Childhood Educators and Assistants.
· Create an awareness and culture of trauma and violence informed care and person-centered approach and planning; working creatively with families to accommodate participation and work to remove barriers to participation. Participate in special promotional activities, programs, or events as required by BGCCVI.
· In collaboration with the Operation Coordinator, the Child Care Centre Supervisor will ensure maintenance and service(s) related to the facility and vehicles to ensure the health and safety of staff, participants and overall positive image of BGCCVI.
· Maintains WorkSafe BC regulations for the Centre are met, through participating in internal inspections and adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
Qualifications:
Education
• Early Childhood Education Diploma.
• Valid First Aid/CPR certificate approved by Community Care Facilities Licensing.
• A criminal record check will be conducted; no applicable convictions will be permitted.
• Must be approved by the BC Early Childhood Registry (ECE Certificate).
• Must be approved as a Licensed Manager by Community Care Facility Licensing within 30 days of employment.
Experience
• Two (2) years previous work experience in a Licensed Child Care Facility as well as experience supervising staff.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
• A positive, supportive and cooperative role model to children and youth.
• The ability to function independently, under pressure, while managing complex situations is an ongoing expectation of this position.
• Demonstrated ability to teach skills and work effectively with others.
• Strong management, scheduling and multi-tasking skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Experience of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programs, and activities including working with those with unique needs and diverse abilities.
• Well-developed oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to use MS office suite, Outlook and MS Teams as well as basic word processing and spreadsheet ability.
