ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

At Everybody Votes, we believe the U.S. electorate should reflect the racial diversity of the citizens of our country. The Everybody Votes Campaign (EVC) is a national, not-for-profit organization hiring staff for a large-scale coordinated civic engagement campaign.  In partnership with local organizations, we support accessible, successful, and high-quality voter registration programs that expand access to our democracy for people in Communities of Color. We are deeply driven by our mission to narrow the voter registration gap between People of Color and white folks, and our core values of Impact, Consistency, Inclusion, and Curiosity guide the “how” of this important work.  

The campaign seeks an experienced Chief Program Officer to work under the Executive Director by overseeing the directors of four program areas working to effectively and efficiently register historically disenfranchised Communities of Color to vote. The four existing program areas led by two Senior Directors: 

  1. Program: directs field, mail and digital programs, including management of grants to community partners and vendors

  2. Data and Technology: manages systems for tracking the campaign’s data and leading development of the tools and data products

  3. Research: oversees strategic analysis that supports the campaign’s core mission, including evaluating the efficacy of our work and testing new tactics

  4. Training: develops and implements training programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, and capabilities of field partners and vendors

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE

  • Provide strategic leadership for the design, development, and implementation of all programmatic initiatives, research projects, tech tools and data products in alignment with maximizing the quality and quantity of registrations collected from eligible People of Color, thereby narrowing the registration gap. 

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement organizational strategies and initiatives to drive impact, while minimizing silos and inefficiency.

  • Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and products, ensuring they are consistently delivered on time, in scope, and within budget and goals.

  • Lead senior leaders of multiple departments to inspire and develop passionate, diverse, and high-performing existing teams, fostering a culture of inclusive collaboration, innovation driven by curiosity, and excellence through consistency.

  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, including national coordinating bodies, community organizations, and funders. 

  • Travel to EVC program states and D.C. to gain invaluable on the ground insights, support training, and build relationships.  

  • Act as a thought partner to the Senior Directors, Executive Director, Chief of Staff and Board Directors and serve as a corporate officer on the board.

MUST HAVES FOR THIS ROLE:

  • Demonstrably sharp strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making

  • Experience overseeing multiple cross disciplinary teams or departments, including hiring and management through multiple levels, especially teams engaged in scaled field operations engaging Communities of Color

  • A deep understanding of the role of voting as a key component for creating more a equitable and just democracy

  • Possesses a proven track record of successfully designing, scaling, and implementing programs with measurable impact on tight timelines and within budget 

  • Track record of successful collaboration with national and state organizations and coalitions within the progressive civic engagement and/or campaign ecosystem and demonstrated ability to lead collaborative projects with allied organizations, vendors, and consultants to measurably positive outcomes

  • Experience working with some of the leading tools in the civic data and field space, such as Catalist, Civis, Tableau, and/or GIS to target and implement successful civic engagement programs

  • Proven ability to make solutions-oriented and actionable recommendations by clearly laying out practical assessments of realistic options for both technical versed and general audiences

  • Ability to quickly build and maintain positive relationships amid complex power dynamics internally and externally

 


HELPFUL BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience working in the field of voter registration

  • Experience successfully managing or implementing statistical analysis techniques, randomized controlled experiments, and predictive models from design to completion

  • Experience working with 501(c)3 and/or 501(c)4 organizations

  • Understanding of state based political and progressive infrastructures



Salary Range & Hiring Level: $166,000-$204,000
