Job Summary


You will have the opportunity to partner with the Life Enrichment Director by creating, planning and implementing activities and spiritual activity offerings to meet the needs of the residents while complying with all state and federal regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Standing, walking, sitting, using hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching with hands or arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
  • Lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point).
  • Depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distance and spatial relationships).
  • Assists in planning, developing and implementing activity programming designed to enrich the lives of our residents.
  • Leads small, medium and large group activities as well as one-to-one activity programs.
  • Provides spiritual/emotional support in a group and individual activity setting.
  • Provides spiritual offerings to other parts of the Masonic campus to include: Assisted Living and Personal Care.
  • Develops new opportunities for resident engagement and participation while working with other departments.
  • Works with volunteers for the Activity Department.
  • Assists with transporting residents to appointments and outings when needed.
  • Prepares equipment, supplies and space to accommodate activities and cleans up after conclusion.
  • Transports residents to and from activities as needed. Includes field trips and outings when needed.
  • Ensures proper supervision during activities.
  • Makes independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must maintain appropriate documentation, charting activity participation, behaviors and degrees of participation.
  • Adheres to community policies and procedures.
  • Works with the Director to create a home-like environment in the resident’s room, which includes pictures, family photos, plants (please follow Dementia guide to toxic plants), afghans, CD player, etc.
  • Ensures customer and family confidentiality regarding all care concerns and issues.
  • Works tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest and positivity.
  • Ensures that activities are occurring as planned, following the monthly activity calendar.


Position Requirements/Qualifications


·         High school diploma or GED.

·         Must have basic computer skills.

·         1 – 2 years of Long-Term Care experience preferred, but not required.

·         Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.

·         Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.

·         Must have a flexible attitude and the ability to multi-task.

·         Must be able to push, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

 

Environmental Adaptability:


·         Works indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

·         Possible exposure to unpleasant odors.

·         Possible exposure to chemicals as identified in the MSDS Manual.
