Qualifications:

Patience, compassion, friendly, nurturing, and positive energy are all vital qualities of a successful pre-K teacher

Capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities

A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

A New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate, Certificate of Eligibility (CE), or Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing (CEAS) Preschool through Grade 3 Knowledge of the Tools Of The Mind Curriculum, Sonday System, and Gold/Coaching to Fidelity

Knowledge of Early Childhood Classroom Management and Assessment Systems

Experience working with preschool students

Ability to work collaboratively with staff, administration, and families

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, with staff, children, parents, and community

Excellent understanding of the principles of child development, preschool educational methods, and the New Jersey Preschool Teaching & Learning Standards

Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms mandated by the New Jersey Office Of Licensing
-
Ability to act as a mediator between children using positive behavior support
-
Able to work with technology in general, including laptops, PCs, iPads, Smart Boards, Apps on iPhones

Certification in Child First Aid/CPR/AED
Job Description:
-
Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health using the Teaching Strategies GOLD online assessment and the myIGDIs (Individual Growth & Development Indicators) system

Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists
-
Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development

Enforce all administration policies and procedures outlined in the Zadie’s Of The Oranges Staff/Parent Handbook
-
Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety in keeping with ECERS standards
-
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
-
Prepare lesson plans and reports on students and activities as required by the administration
-
Organize and label materials and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their ages and perceptual skills and in keeping with ECERS standards
-
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence
-
Confer with other staff members to plan and schedule lessons promoting learning, following approved curricula
-
Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and classroom volunteers
-
Provides individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and special abilities
-
Plans and coordinates the work of aides, teacher assistants, and other paraprofessionals

Performs other duties as assigned
