Certified Nursing Assistant Transport
• Transports patients by assisting patients in and out of taxis, ambulances, and cars; lifting patients on and off beds; moving them to and from special service and treatment areas; using wheelchairs or moveable beds. • Transports equipment and supplies; delivering them to assigned treatment areas and patient care areas. • Transports laboratory specimens by picking-up specimens and delivering them to specified laboratory. • Safely transport patients to and from each location by following all safety protocols/processes. • Retrieves and stores transport equipment. • Uses wheelchairs and other approved rolling stock to carry out the essential duties of the position. • Demonstrates competency in transporting all specific age groups including the use of patient lift equipment. • Ensures the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients to their destination using the proper requested equipment. • Communicates effectively with nursing personnel, clinicians, technicians or reception and dispatch. • Ensures the comfort of the patient by being attentive. Offers blankets, checks modesty and only engages in appropriate conversation involving patients. • Alerts nursing staff immediately to any signs of patient distress or equipment malfunction. • Maintains equipment and reports equipment needing repairs. • Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state local governmental regulations. • Adheres to facility confidentiality and patient's rights policy as outlined in the facilities HIPPA policies and procedures. • Performs other duties as assigned. 2/2/15 • Completes all necessary delivery forms and paperwork including, but not limited to invoices, work orders, manifests and logs, patient care instructions, route sheets, etc. • Delivers equipment and oxygen as required in accordance with industry standards and applicable federal, state and local governmental regulations. • Delivers, sets up and maintains equipment at the delivery address using company vehicle. • Educates the patient and/or caregiver on the safe use and maintenance of the delivered items. • Maintains assigned company vehicle in a clean and safe working condition. • Observes additional needs that the patient may have and reports to management during morning meeting • Reports equipment hazards and/or product incidents as required • Ensure that the resident’s room is ready for receiving the resident (i.e., bed made, name tags up, admission kit available, etc.) • Greet residents and escort them to their room. • Introduce resident to his/her roommate, if any, and other residents and personnel as appropriate. • Make resident comfortable (i.e., put to bed, get water, etc.) • Inventory and mark the resident’s personal possessions as instructed. • Store resident’s clothing. • Assist residents with packing their personal belongings when they are being transferred or discharged. • Transport residents to new rooms or to the receiving area. • Assist with loading/unloading residents from vehicles as necessary.
