Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Individual Care
Job is 12 hour shifts.
Job Summary:
As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) providing individual care, you will work directly with patient, asisting them with activities of daily living (ADLs), providing emotional support, and ensuring their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Help patients with tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
- Personalized Care: Provide tailored care based on individual patient needs, preferences, and medical conditions.
- Monitor Patient Conditions: Observe and report any changes in patient’s physical or emotional state, including vital signs, skin conditions, and overall comfort.
- Assist with Mobility: Help patients with movement, including transferring to and from beds, chairs, or wheelchairs. Support with walking, exercising, and other mobility needs.
- Assist with Medical Procedures: Help nurses with certain medical tasks, such as taking blood pressure, temperature, and pulse, or applying skin treatments and medications as directed by healthcare providers.
- Provide Emotional and Social Support: Offer companionship and support to patients, helping them maintain a sense of dignity and well-being.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Assist with the upkeep of patient living spaces, including making beds, cleaning, and organizing rooms.
- Document Care: Accurately record patient care activities and any changes in their condition in patient records and report to supervisors as necessary.
- Support Patient Safety: Ensure patient safety by following established care protocols, assisting with fall prevention, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, family members, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal care delivery.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification: Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with a valid state certification.
- Basic Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with basic healthcare practices and the ability to perform routine medical tasks under supervision.
- Compassionate and Patient: Ability to provide emotional support, maintain patience, and respect for patients’ dignity.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, transfer, and move patients, as well as stand or walk for extended periods.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with patients, family members, and healthcare providers.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to observe and report changes in patients’ conditions accurately and promptly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a CNA in a healthcare setting (nursing home, hospital, private care).
- First aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of specialized patient care needs, including those related to mobility, dementia, or chronic conditions.
Work Environment:
This position will require work in private home. Hours may vary depending on the location, and evening, night, or weekend shifts may be required.
