Certified Medication aide 6p-10p
SUMMARY
The position of Certified Medication Aide would function as an interictal part
of the clinical team at Brethren Retirement Community. Working within their scope of practice the
CMA would help the Charge Nurses in their med pass. When they are not helping with med passes
they would be expected to work as an STNA or Resident Assistant helping the
Elders with care needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

· Provides quality care to residents assigned to him/her by:
· Deliver routine daily, oral, topical or inhalant to residents under direct supervision of licensed nurse.
· Coordinate with different nurses to assist with resident care and medications.
· Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
· Record medication administration accurately according to the company process.
· Observe residents and alert licensed nurse of changes observed.
· Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
· Uphold all health and safety standards.
· Respond to resident call lights to identify resident needs.
· Documenting services provided timely and correctly.
· Utilize problem solving techniques within the scope of the job description and seek or refer to other staff if need other solutions outside your authority.
· Promote good employee, interdepartmental and public relations by:
· Cooperating with other staff members as a multi-disciplinary team to achieve the Mission Statement of Brethren Retirement Community. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and pleasant environment.
· Deal tactfully and courteously with residents, family members, visitors, and general public.
· Conversing with residents, resident family, and members of team to determine needs of resident.

Enhance professional and personal growth and
development through attendance at educational programs, in-services and
scheduled meetings by:
-Developing
interpersonal skills through training
-Participating
in in-service offerings.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must be a Certified Medication Aide in the State of Ohio. Must have a good understanding of medical and
pharmaceutical terminology.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and
maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine
reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of
customers or employees of organization. Ability to read, write, and understand
English language. Ability to transfer information to applicable forms.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide
with 1O's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of
American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Able to understand
percent of food intake, convert ounces to cubic centimeters.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but
uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems
involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
