Alabama Regional Medical Services (ARMS) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Prevention Specialist to join our Medical Department. In this vital role, you’ll partner with the HIV/Prevention Services Manager to implement and expand our preventive health programs. The Prevention Specialist provides preventive screenings both onsite and in the community—traveling to various events and operating from our Mobile Health Unit to promote wellness through education, screenings, and care coordination.

You’ll play an essential role in connecting patients to needed care, supporting medication adherence for PrEP, and helping strengthen health outcomes across our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including vital signs and medical histories
  • Administer point-of-care HIV screenings and provide results with counseling
  • Perform blood glucose, blood pressure, and BMI screenings
  • Link high-risk patients or those without a primary care provider to appropriate ARMS services
  • Provide care management by assessing needs and addressing barriers to care
  • Assist patients with scheduling appointments and updating contact information
  • Maintain accurate records and complete patient documentation in the EHR and program databases
  • Support PrEP inreach and outreach education initiatives
  • Assist with the sterilization, maintenance, and organization of the Mobile Health Unit clinical area
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (Certification required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant preferred
  • Strong clinical and administrative skills to support quality patient care and clinic efficiency
  • Valid Alabama driver’s license and insurable driving record required
  • Ability and willingness to drive the Mobile Health Unit

  • Strong cultural competency and patient-centered approach
  • Flexibility and comfort working in community-based and mobile settings
