Coding Lead/Floater (Remote)

IMC is looking to hire a Coding Lead/Floater to support Revenue Integrity operations by providing guidance and education to coding staff while ensuring accurate and compliant coding practices. This role monitors coder productivity, assists with performance feedback, and supports daily workflow coordination, including timecard review and approval. The Coding Lead serves as a resource across all service lines, collaborates with billing and auditing teams, and contributes to compliance reporting. Additionally, this position assists with chargemaster maintenance, reimbursement reviews, and special coding projects, including quality initiatives and new service line implementation.
WORK HOURS/SETTING: Position is Monday thru Friday. Some overtime, weekends and Holidays required so that end-of-week and month-end goals are met. A 40-hour work week is expected but not guaranteed, as hours may be decreased as work volume decreases. This position does have the capability to be performed remotely upon completion of training and once appropriate productivity levels are proven as set forth by industry standard by service line. However, mandatory in office work days will occur.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management required, along with a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience demonstrating advanced knowledge in healthcare payer contracting.
- RHIA, RHIT, or registry-eligible preferred; other coding credentials considered
TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, & JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- On-the-job training available to applicants meeting minimal educational and licensure requirements, though prior coding experience in an acute care facility is preferred
- Spreadsheet and word processing experience helpful
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and American Hospital Association coding rules.
PRINCIPLE TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs Chargemaster maintenance
- New services financial supporter
- Service Line reimbursement analytics upon request
- Monitors and coordinates day to day operations of all coding staff—including development of daily staffing plans
- Monitors Coder productivity on a daily basis
- Performs time and attendance functions
- Remains abreast of any and all coding guidelines and regulatory requirements regarding coding.
- Educates Coding team on any subject matter related to coding—including annual and quarterly changes and any payer specific coding rules.
- Serves as liaison between Business Office/Billers and Coding team regarding billing edits and claims cleanup for any coding related issues.
- Assists with Coding duties when needed
- Codes Wound Care service line
- Onboards and cross trains new employees and serves as mentor when hosting HIM students
- Assists Audit and Appeals Nurse with coding related denials/appeals as needed
