CDL Driver

Employee-Owned Premier Countertop Company is looking for a Class A CDL driver for our team for a growing company in Syracuse. Full-time, Monday through Friday, year-round position with occasional overtime and room for growth!

JOB SUMMARY:

The position requires the candidate to safely operate a 40-ton commercial vehicle to deliver finished and raw materials to customer and Vendors. The driver needs to be physically fit to make deliveries in a challenging location. The driver will be responsible for safe delivery and pick up of products and inventory checks.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

•  Long-distance driving
• Communicating and coordinating with Operations Manager.
• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
• Planning and meeting delivery schedules
• Complying with truck driving rules and regulations
• Reporting defects, accidents, and violations
• Performing daily maintenance of the truck (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
• Loading and unloading box trucks with forklifts and pallet jacks
• Interacting with customers in a professional manner
• Performing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspection reports
• Recording cargo deliveries
• Verifying loads for accuracy

CDL DRIVER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Require high school diploma/GED
• Valid Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Experienced driving heavy trucks and van
• More than 3 years of proven experience driving a tractor-trailer, preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age
• Physically fit enough to lift > 50 pounds
• Great time management skill and communication skills
• Proficient in using GPS and other navigation systems
• Able to drive for an extended period of time
• Must pass a background check and drug screen
