Casino Security Manager
Under the general direction of the COO/General Manager this position is responsible for protecting patrons, staff and assets to ensure the integrity of the gaming floor and company property by patrolling and monitoring the entire gaming site, interior and exterior, as well as controlling access to restricted areas. Overall responsibility for the Risk Management functions. Security Manager is responsible for implementing, maintaining and monitoring the security and safety program for the company.
In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring the highest standard of excellent customer service while completing all tasks required on a day-to-day basis and ensuring that the general staff are adhering to the same above mentioned responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains current knowledge of BCLC security regulations, protocols, and/or procedures and implement appropriately
- Maintains current knowledge of security management issues related to personnel, physical and information security
- Responds to all emergency first aid calls for patrons and employees and conduct emergency protocols
Follow-up BCLC audits and reports or GPEB audits
Daily usage of computer programs such as Microsoft programs or internal programs (iTrak) to complete incident reports and daily happenings
- Makes important decisions regarding escalated situations that may occur
- Create and implement company-wide in house standard operating guidelines
- Create and maintain emergency procedure manuals and training manuals for officers and supervisors
- Recruits, conducts interviews and makes hiring decisions with the HR department
- Makes discipline and termination decisions alongside HR
- Provides ongoing performance feedback, conducts formal performance reviews and counsels employees when necessary
- Communicates with all levels of employees in the organization to ensure safety in the building
- Responsible for overseeing, organizing, and ordering all first aid training, first aid supplies and radio equipment
- Sets up finger print activation for the GPEB cabinet and time clock for all new hires
- Performs key audits for the whole building
- Conducts opening and closing procedures for the gaming center as necessary
- Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing changes in employee behavior and performance
- Schedules and apportions employee work hours and time off (based on operational needs)
- Resolves employee complaints and concerns alongside HR
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to lead the security team in an effective and professional manner to promote the 3 C's: Courtesy, Commitment and Consistency
- Knowledge of incident recording and reporting procedures
- Knowledge of crowd control, incident resolution and reporting
- Excellent leadership skills to enhance the overall operations of the department
- Ability to follow instructions and initiate situation resolve
- Possess good judgement and ability to make quick decisions when needed
- Ability to interact and communicate with officials at all levels
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Ability to develop, implement and enforce security programs
- Understand the organizational structure and workflow while conducting operating procedures
- Ability to mitigate risk and maintain current knowledge in occupation health and safety
- Knowledge of BCLC security regulations, protocols, and/or procedures
- Working knowledge of company operating systems i.e. Centaur, Proxsafe, Commander etc...
Education and Experience Requirements
- 5-7 years' experience in a related field
- 3 years' experience in a Management role
- Gaming industry and supervisory experience considered and asset
- Gaming Security Officer certification must be completed within the first 90 days of employment
- Completion of all BCLC certifications necessary for the position
Working Environment
- Work is performed on the interior and exterior of the building in all weather conditions
- Work is performed on the gaming floor which consists of loud noises, ringing from slot machines and occasional noise from construction
- The casino environments exposes workers to bright lights from slot machines
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit or stand for 10 hours or longer, at extended lengths of time
- Occasionally may carry objects up to 50lbs
- Ability to respond to first aid and other emergency calls and carry out evacuation procedures
- Required to ensure safe walking perimeter on the exterior of the building by shoveling and applying ice melt (weather permitted)
- Finger dexterity for operation of personal computer and routine paperwork
- This position may require employees to crouch, bend, reach, push and pull
- This position is required to wear an active head set while on duty
