RN/Infection Control Preventionist/Education & Employee Health Coordinator (Time-Time) - RN License with Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS is Required. 

Current certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) or studying to take the CIC exam or recertification exam (can obtain after hire).

We are currently seeking an outstanding licensed individual who wants to work in a homelike atmosphere providing education, observation & assistance with all aspects of infection control, staff education in accordance with critical access hospital and rural health clinics regulations. Select candidate will be self-directed with the ability to prioritize and have skills to train & motivate others. Summary:  Functions as an RN / Infection Control Preventionist / Education & Employee Health Coordinator in a team and mission-based setting to provide duties associated with but not limited to: infection control, staff education andf quality assurance. Must be RN, CIC certification required (can obtain after hire). ICP&SDC will be a subject matter expert for facility infection prevention and control program (IPCP), which is designed to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment and to help prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. Also, will provide staff education for the Nursing Department and other departments as directed including operational and educational activities for existing staff members to meet educational requirements. Serves as a resource to both staff and management. Communicates with patients/clients and NCCH staff to ensure highest quality of customer service. ICP&SDC has primary responsibility for serving as a resource to build, strengthen and maintain positive working relationships with patients/clients, providers, case managers, referral representatives, supervisors, program managers, and related service providers or vendors. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. This position may be asked to work at other hospital district sites as needed.

Serves as a back-up Registered Nurse when neededWorks as a clinical nurse to maintain clinical skills and evaluate clinical /department education, observation & assistance with all aspects of infection control and staff development.

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer or designated administrator.


Education and/or Experience:  

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Microbiology, Public Health or related field, required. Master's degree or equitable infection prevention experience preferred.

May consider combination of related education and experience.

Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in Arizona

Understand infectious disease surveillance and risk assessment activities

Knowledge of infection prevention and control related principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equitable infection prevention experience.

Current certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) or studying to take the CIC exam or recertification exam (can obtain after hire).

Minimum of two (2) years healthcare, nursing, lab and/or infection prevention experience.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.  Work experience in Infection Control, Acute Care, plus MedSurg, ED, Trauma and Emergency care, highly desirable.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:  

Current, unrestricted Arizona Registered Nurse license.  Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

General Nursing Standards of Practice and Arizona Nurse Practice Act

Ability to provide educational experiences for staff that are relevant to their job responsibilities.

Ability to successfully provide educational information and/or make presentations to attendees with both high levels and low levels of understanding about the subject matter being covered

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and records, and manage data

Detailed knowledge of immunization schedules, and basic infection control practices.

Skills in administering purified protein derivatives (PPD) and immunizations.

Must possess strong clinical decision making skills and knowledge of EPB guidelines.

Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and manage data.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.

Basic Microsoft Word, power point, and excel computer competence necessary.

Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and thorough understanding of HIPAA.
