Job Description
This is a dynamic, hands-on position ideal for individuals who are mature, responsible, and able to manage a wide range of tasks. Successful candidates will become permanent members of our team, working on projects in the Lower Mainland. The role may also require occasional travel to remote sites across British Columbia, depending on project needs. When working locally, the schedule will be Monday to Friday, while remote site work will follow a 2-week on, 1-week off rotation.
Responsibilities
- Daily responsibilities will vary and will include different carpentry and labour tasks for the construction of camp and modular facilities, foundation to finish.
- Fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, moulding and hardware.
- Repairing and renovating modular buildings.
- Building stairs, decks, landings and covered entrances.
- Rigging and building setting on foundations with trucks and/or cranes.
- Load and unload materials and move materials to designated work areas.
- Constant attention to safety around the site and ability to abide by all safety rules & procedures.
- Notify supervisor when supplies are needed.
- Maintain communication with supervisor.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic and punctuality.
- Red Seal ticket or Apprentice carpenters preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of related carpentry or construction experience. Camp or modular construction experience is an asset.
- Hold a valid drivers licence and have a reliable vehicle.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Ability to follow direction and a team player able to provide support, motivation and encouragement to others.
- Superior organization and time management skills.
- Strong decision making and delegation skills.
- Completion of Level 1 First Aid, Fall Arrest, or Health and Safety Training preferred.
- Sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to perform heavy manual outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Proving own hand tools is a bonus but not a requirement, specifically sawzall, skill saw, chop saw, table saw, radial arm saw, drills, drill press and air tools.
- Organization, cleanliness and a professional attitude are a must.
