Job Title: Career Navigation Assistant Reports To: Career Navigation Manager

Essential Functions:

Work alongside Human Resources, Program Manager, job coaches, and other staff to assist with everyday duties that support clients throughout the three phases of the Opportunity Accelerator Framework; communicate with service providers to assist with the evaluation of client progress; offer counsel and guidance as needed; assist with the initiation of supportive service requests; maintain the operation of the computer lab; instruct clients and staff in the use of computer lab technology and software applications; monitor client activities in the computer lab; and perform additional administrative duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

This job requires knowledge of coaching and mentoring; working under direct supervision using standardized routines; providing information and/or advising others; assist staff with assigned tasks including data entry and research.

1.Assist with the maintenance of case documentation (i.e., client records, including progress notes and all other relevant information to assist clients and to comply with grant requirements).

2.Assist with the review and verification all documentation submitted to support request for assistance in accordance with program guidelines; explain to clients their rights, responsibilities, required actions, and other available services based on the clients’ ability to be successful.

3.Ensure the accuracy of referral information referred from direct Funding Sources or Community Partners.

4.Assist with the Interview, intake, and assessment of incoming participants to determine their needs/goals and facilitate warm handoffs upon enrollment into Workforce Development programming.

5.Assist with the creation of assessments and evaluations to analyze participants knowledge and understanding of Job Readiness and/or PRE-ETS curriculum.

6.Assist with maintaining documentation of attendance records and provide participation information to program managers and/or career navigators as applicable.

7.Enter enrollment and service delivery data into case management system.

8.Coordinate scheduling of clients for the purpose of maintaining computer lab operations and activities.

9.Instruct clients in computer lab technology and software applications (e.g., answers questions, keyboarding, specialized programs, etc.) for the purpose of enhancing their understanding of lab operations and strengthening academic concepts.

10.Monitor participant activities while in computer lab for the purpose of maintaining a safe environment that is conducive to learning and documenting digital learning progress in case management system.

11.Create and research training exercises that will enhance the growth and development of the participants.

12.Helps visitors by greeting, welcoming, and directing them appropriately.

13.Directs visitors by maintaining employee and department directories.

14.Notifies company personnel of visitor arrival.

15.Stay informed of any policies, procedures, or activities of assigned program(s) and comply with those changes as appropriate.

16.Stay informed of program operations and assist in the development and implementation of corrective action plan where needed.

17.Conduct outreach to community providers and employers to gather collateral information in support of service planning as needed.

18.Maintain professional knowledge in applicable areas and keep abreast of changes in job-related rules, statues, and laws; read and interpret professional literature; attend workshops, meeting, and seminars if applicable.

19.Adhere to work site rules and regulations regarding company policies, dress, parking, lunch, and breaks, etc.

20.Keep the Program Manager and Program Director informed of unusual and/or crisis situations as they arise.

21.Actively participate in team meetings and trainings.

22.Complete other tasks as assigned.

2.Ability to maintain good working relationships with staff, volunteers, clients, and others.

3.Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.

4.Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to complete projects efficiently and independently.

5.Must have excellent communication skills including verbal, phone, word processing, email, and internet.

6.Must have good public relations skills and the ability to work with employees and the public.

7.Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with, and among, all personnel.

8.Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.

9.Must be able to work occasionally long or extended hour, including weekends.

10.Must be able to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.

11.Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information.

Requirements:

1.Three years of experience in criminal justice, social work, employment counseling, employment placement, human services, or administration is preferred.

2.Excellent oral and written communication skills.

3.Must be proficient in operating a computer and experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other social media applications.

4.Must provide own transportation.

5.Must be able to clear DMV check.

6.Must possess valid operator’s license and maintain current vehicle registration, liability insurance and vehicle inspection.

7.Must be ambulatory.
