OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

 

The Camp Ridley Assistant Boarding Life Supervisor will support the role of the Camp Ridley Boarding Life Supervisor by attending to any performance concerns with boarding campers and by assisting in all tasks related to the successful operation of Camp Ridley Boarding Program.

 

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·       Handles all behavior or performance issues with boarding campers;

·       Works closely with the Summer boarding Life Supervisor and Manager, Business Development, Camp Ridley, to achieve resolution and ensure that all boarders adhere to the Ridley College Code of Conduct;

·       Keeps records of all performance issues of campers and contacts parents when needed; 

·       Submits daily log to Senior Staff on all daily occurrences;

·       Assists with the onboarding of all boarders and ensures that camp policies and procedures are understood and adhered to; Boarding Residence Life Supervisor to support the Programme;

·       Ensures that all activity equipment is in good working order, the camp environment is safe from physical hazards and that staff are trained on proper equipment usage;

·       Ensures all boarding check-ins are complete and monitors camper tardiness and attendance;

·       Mediates any conflicts between boarders and facilitates roommate changes when necessary;

·       Handles all off-campus request forms and ensures the safety of the campers throughout this process;

·       Attends and supervises excursions and on-campus activities;

·       Assists the Summer Boarding Life Supervisor with all intake registration days and exit days, to greet families and agents, provide information and foster positive relationships and assists with airport greetings;

·       Supervises dinner in the Great Hall;

·       Organizes boarder birthday celebrations;

·       Assists the Summer Boarding Life Supervisor with camper health issues and ensures that accident reports are completed and given to the Summer Boarding Life Supervisor;

·       Assists with weekly Boarding Life Staff meetings and attends weekly Senior Staff meetings;

 

Must live on campus. Housing and meals will be provided.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

·       Pursuing a post-secondary degree in a relevant field;

·       Knowledge of positive behavioural interventions and conflict resolution strategies;

·       Knowledge and experience in Human Resource ‘best practices’;

·       Valid CPR and First Aid Certification (training will be provided);

 

EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

·       2-3 years of experience assessing staff performance and writing evaluations;

·       Experience working with international students;

·       Extensive experience working with children especially in a boarding camp environment;                                   

·       Experience employing conflict resolution strategies and behavior management techniques;

·       Excellent organizational and general management skills;

·       Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative;

·       Skilled people leader who can energize and develop individuals by taking a learner-centered approach that builds trust, encourages collaboration and promotes a growth mindset;

·       Ability to enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures;

·       Strong communication interpersonal skills;

·       A sense of humour, self-control and a love for working with children;

·       Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, students, and parents and resolve problems constructively and nimbly;

·       Holds high standards of personal responsibility and professionalism;

·       Mandatory participation in training sessions.
