Camp Operations Manager – Camp Horizon

Easter Seals Alberta is a provincial not-for-profit organization that has been enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities and medical conditions for over 70 years. Our mission is to provide services that foster inclusion, independence, and recreation.

We’re seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and guest experience at Easter Seals Camp Horizon. This individual will lead a dedicated team and ensure a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality environment for campers, families, staff, and visitors. This role is ideal for someone with a background in hotel, resort, or hospitality management who is looking to make a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Culture

  • Champion a culture of inclusion, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Create a welcoming, responsive, and client-centered environment focused on exceptional guest experience.
  • Provide strong, positive leadership to departmental teams, including Facilities, Kitchen, Housekeeping, and Guest Services.
  • Support diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice practices across all operations.
  • Empower staff through ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback.

Camp Operations

  • Oversee all aspects of daily operations for Easter Seals Camp Horizon, including facility use, lodging, food services, scheduling logistics, and guest services.
  • Develop and execute operational plans that align with the strategic direction set by the Director of Programs.
  • Ensure that all facilities and services run efficiently, safely, and professionally—similar to managing a small hotel or resort.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in maintaining the physical property to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and hospitality.
  • Oversee kitchen services to ensure meals are nutritious, well-presented, and meet dietary needs of guests.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to meet camper and group expectations, including logistics, accommodation set-ups, and special needs.

Customer Experience

  • Ensure all campers, staff, families, and visitors enjoy a seamless and high-quality experience from arrival to departure.
  • Act as the point person for on-site guest experience and satisfaction.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to inquiries, feedback, or complaints, going above and beyond to resolve issues.
  • Ensure that staff embody exceptional hospitality and service standards in every interaction.

Facilities & Safety

  • Manage the Facilities team to ensure property upkeep, timely maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate ongoing property maintenance, renovations, and improvement projects.
  • Oversee housekeeping services for cleanliness and comfort across all areas.
  • Conduct regular safety drills and inspections; implement and monitor emergency preparedness plans.

Financial & Administrative Oversight

  • Support and manage operating budgets, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency.
  • Work closely with vendors and contractors to manage supply procurement and service agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records related to facility usage, guest counts, budgets, and inventory.

Collaboration & Representation

  • Partner with the Fund Development team to support donor and fundraising activities.
  • Represent Camp Horizon at community events and during stakeholder visits and tours.
  • Provide input to marketing and program planning teams to ensure operational feasibility of new initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of leadership experience in operations, hospitality, hotel/resort management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record managing facilities, staff teams, logistics, and guest services.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-functioning teams and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Budget management and strategic planning experience required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced, client-centered environment.
  • Previous experience in non-profit or recreational settings is an asset.

Other Requirements

  • This position requires a combination of remote work and on-site presence at Camp Horizon in Bragg Creek.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • On-call responsibilities are required.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are necessary.
  • A current Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search is a condition of employment.
