BVH-Peer Support Specialist (PT)
Providing assistance and support to veterans. The Peer Support Specialist will use their recovery experiences and successes to serve as a role model for veterans in the program.
- Assists Veterans in the program by providing support and encouragement based on their own recovery successes and experiences.
- Accompanies veterans to appointments and services as directed by the supervisor.
- Transports veterans, as needed, in a safe and courteous manner
- Follows all emergency procedures such as medical emergencies, crisis intervention, fire and/or smoke, police emergency, AED/ First Aid, etc. as per the Agency’s Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Notify a Case Manager (present or on-call) whenever a veteran exhibits signs of drug or alcohol use, medical distress, or increase in mental health symptoms.
- Responsible for documenting any and all pertinent information and veteran contact in the Community Hope electronic health record.
- Ensures agency vehicle is kept in good condition
- Informs supervisor of any problems with the vehicle
- Completes vehicle inspection reports and coordinates vehicle maintenance as needed
Qualifications:
- Must be a veteran with proof of military service as evidenced by document DD-214.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
