About the Role

Georgia Association of REALTORS® (GAR) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team. This position is an in-office, full-time, exempt, position.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager will assess and recommend companies that are interested in promoting their business or service to Georgia REALTORS® (GAR) members via conference partnerships, sponsorships, affinity/discount partnerships, and advertising in the Georgia REALTOR® magazine, on garealtor.com, and in specialty publications. Responsibilities include managing partners, sponsors, advertisers, and exhibitor relationships, providing guidance and support for transactions, trade show management, and additional marketing services. Position will be responsible for sales strategies that will grow the associations relationships and revenue which is vital in being able to provide our members with education, events, low registration costs, and networking opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assesses potential for non-dues revenue within GAR including but not limited to: Conference Partnerships, Affinity Partnerships, Advertising, Affiliated Groups, YPN, Event Sponsorships, etc.
  • Manages and sells sponsorships for the following GAR events but not limited to: Inaugural & Legislative Conference, RENEW Women’s Conference, Regional AE Conference, GRI, Annual Conference & Expo, Brokers Summit, YPN
  • Conducts annual market assessments to determine the fit of current and prospective partnerships while managing partnership contracts
  • Manages partnership, sponsorship, and advertiser contracts and relationships
  • Telephone, electronic and in-person prospecting for advertisers, partners, etc.
  • Routes receivables for accounts that have been sold
  • Research comparable advertising prices for print and digital mediums
  • Manage exhibit show information; provide customer service to exhibitors, sponsors, and other partners
  • Manages exhibitor agreements and invoices
  • Manages exhibit show onsite and works with the contracted exhibitor provider
  • Provides marketing support Assist with the development of marketing materials and communications from partners/sponsors to provide to marketing department to promote on multiple platforms including websites, mobile app, printed materials and signage.
  • Creates an annual marketing plan for all Affinity Partners in conjunction with the Communications department

Specific Tasks

  • Oversees all initial and renewal partnership and exhibitor contracts for conference, advertising and affinity renewals.
  • Research and seeks new ideas for promotional opportunities within GAR for partners (digital advertising, event sponsorships for YPN, Broker’s Council, etc.)
  • Drafts a report by specific deadline detailing the advertising pages for upcoming issue of Georgia REALTOR®, i.e. name of advertiser, ad size and special stipulations
  • Routes ad billing information to Finance Department for the following but not limited to: GAR Magazine advertisements, website and eNews advertisements, sponsorships, and partnerships
  • Maintains positive relationships with GAR partners, sponsors, and advertisers
  • Sells trade booth spaces for GAR Conferences/Expos, if not filled by partners and manages the Expo onsite
  • Research requests for Affinity Partnerships to see if they meet GAR guidelines and make recommendations for approval
  • Conducts quarterly reviews with Affinity Partnerships to review marketing and revenue share that is provided to GAR
  • Conducts a bi-annual analysis of all current affinity partners to ensure viability
  • Travel: GAR conferences and Events and possibly NAR conference

 Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills)

       ·    At least 4 years’ experience in related role required, experience with exhibits and/or sponsorship partnership, and advertising programs strongly preferred 

  • Knowledge of basic principles of promotions, sales and marketing
  • Understanding of basic principles of accounting for managing invoices
  • Understanding of budgeting and forecasting to ensure association goals are met
  • Understanding of market trends to ensure pricing aligns
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree, strongly preferred, preferably in business or related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written communications skills, including the ability to communicate with precision and effectiveness.
