Business Analyst
Freehold Royalties is seeking a Business Analyst to join its Strategy and Planning team in Calgary, reporting to the Manager of Strategy and Planning. The role supports financial modelling and strategic planning across Freehold’s royalty portfolio. Positioned at the intersection of finance, data, and strategy, this unique role leverages a broad understanding of the North American energy complex to inform capital allocation and key business decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain and enhance the corporate model, including basin‑level production and activity forecasts, corporate modelling, and sensitivity analyses;
- Contribute to the long‑range planning process by working cross‑functionally with geology, engineering, and land teams to support the long‑term strategic outlook for the business;
- Analyze industry and energy market trends to develop appropriate production and activity forecasts and support broader strategic decision‑making;
- Monitor key performance indicators, including industry licensing, drilling, and completion activity across Freehold’s Canadian and U.S. asset base;
- Support monthly accruals, quarterly forecasts, and the annual budget process;
- Coordinate, analyze, and communicate results for executive and board reporting, including preparation of monthly reports and board materials; and
- Assist investor relations team with external corporate messaging, including corporate slide decks.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Finance, Engineering, Accounting, or a related discipline;
- 2–4 years of experience in the energy industry, preferably upstream oil and gas;
- Demonstrated experience in corporate development, financial analysis, and forecasting;
- Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint;
- Experience with industry-related software (e.g., Enverus Prism, ComboCurve, Value Navigator, and geoSCOUT);
- Experience working with large data sets;
- Programming proficiency; Python is considered an asset;
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Spotfire, or Tableau); and
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
