Heavy Duty / Commercial Transport Mechanic
HEAVY DUTY / COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT MECHANIC
We are seeking a skilled and reliable bus mechanic to maintain our fleet to company standards, ensuring all preventative maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner. Reporting to the Director of Operations and Shop Manager, the mechanic will play a crucial role in keeping our tour buses in excellent working condition. Since we transport passenger guests rather than freight, it is essential to understand the urgency of addressing breakdowns to ensure safety, reliability, and guest satisfaction.
- Performing preventive and maintenance inspections such as oil changes, lubrications, and tune ups as per Company standards.
- Performing adjustments and repairs, or replacing parts and components of commercial buses as per Company standards using hand tools or other specialize automotive repair equipment
- Inspecting and testing mechanical units, such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems, to locate faults and malfunctions
- Reviewing and maintaining work orders accurately and on time
- Filling out DVIR books and inspection sheets accurately and on time
- Ensuring that buses are repaired and maintained clean and presentable to the highest standards
- Repairing air brake systems
- Making sure that all work is done properly to ensure minimum duplicate repair
- Driving a Service Truck or Buses for Road Calls
- Maintaining work area clean
- To carry out other tasks as may be reasonably requested
- Remaining on feet for continuous periods of time without being able to leave the work area
- Requires lifting, carrying, or pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs
- You have your Red Seal Certification
- You have at least 2 years of relevant Diesel/Heavy Truck/Bus Mechanic experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Legally able to work in Canada
- Inspectors ticket is an asset
- Having a BC Commercial Driver’s License – Class 1, 2, or 3 with air brake endorsement – is an asset
- You are goal oriented and have ethical work conduct
- You are punctual and have consistent work attendance
- You have good verbal and written communication skills
- You can work independently and as part of a team
- You have strong customer service skills, with the ability to see issues from the guests' perspective
- Must maintain and adhere to all commercial vehicle safety standards as stipulated by the province of British Columbia
- Must have a flexible schedule with availability to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
- Must always follow all company guidelines and internal protocols and procedures
- Must have own tools
- Central Burnaby office with access to transit routes and free on-site parking
