POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  Under the guidance and supervision of the Membership Director, the Building Supervisor is responsible for promoting a positive, professional and welcoming atmosphere. The Building Supervisor must possess the competence and confidence to supervise a safe environment for all members, program participants, volunteers and staff. They will be responsible for the overall supervision of the building and grounds.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All Building Supervisors are expected to fulfill the following functions:

·         Make sure that all staff are at their assigned posts and report any issues to the proper Program Director.

·         Tour the facility on a regular basis and complete the building checklist.

·         Responsible for opening/closing the facility, as well as monitoring security procedures and facility operations during shift.

·         Assist staff in taking responsibility for all equipment and supplies used.

·         Report any maintenance or repair needs to the membership director.

·         Build relationships with members, program participants, volunteers and staff.

·         Handle and resolve membership concerns and inform supervisors of unusual situations or unresolved issues.

·         Assure that Y policies are followed by all, with the ability to use Y voice in handling any infractions. 

·         Accurate reporting and documentation of incidents with Incident Report Forms.

·         Respond to emergencies as needed.

·         Serve as the point of contact with outside authorities for emergency or disturbances to operations and safety.

 

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities, Building Supervisor will:

·         Back up front desk and other program area staff as needed.

·         Pursue ongoing training related to this position.

·         Attend Member Service staff meetings.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to perform all physical demands of the position including walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting 
  • Must be able to move freely and quickly throughout the Y facility.
  • Communicate effectively with people; and use a computer.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 21 years of age.
  2. Alarm/Emergency Procedures training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.
  3. CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire and biannually thereafter.
  4. New Employee Orientation 90 days of hire.
  5. Strong communication, customer service and problem-solving skills.
