Building Maintenance & Janitorial Worker
Reporting to the Property Manager, this position is a hands-on position and will be responsible for
supporting all aspects of janitorial maintenance within the Agency’s portfolio of mixed commercial
and residential properties. This position requires travel between properties within Maple Ridge.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Perform regular cleaning of commercial and residential spaces including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitizing all common areas, restrooms, and office spaces.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces such as door handles, elevator buttons, shared spaces and equipment. Assist with any cleaning tasks as required at any MRPMCS sites.
- Empty and dispose of garbage and recycling from all commercial areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of windows, glass doors, and entryways.
- Ensure commercial restrooms are stocked and sanitized.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, unclogging drains, and repairing fixtures.
- Assist with minor maintenance repairs and landscaping as required.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address maintenance needs and report to property management team .
- Coordinate and assist with external contractors for larger repair projects, as required and in consultation with the Property Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
- Completion of Grade 12 plus training and/or a minimum 2 years of experience, including the ability
- to operate cleaning equipment and basic tools. Previous experience in janitorial or maintenance
- work preferred, along with strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions and strong
- communication/interpersonal skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English language
- Sound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in building maintenance
- Valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and clear driving record
- Proactive with the ability to problem solve
- Self-starter with a positive attitude, and able to work through daily/weekly tasks with
- minimal supervision
- Basic computer skills: experience with Microsoft Office
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week: 20 hours per week
Expected Start Date: ASAP
Wage/Salary: starting at $25.95 / hour
