Position Summary: We are seeking skilled Building Code Plan Examiners / Reviewers with ICC certification to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing construction plans, inspecting building projects, and enforcing compliance with local and state building codes. This position involves assessing residential, commercial, and industrial projects to ensure safety, structural integrity, and adherence to zoning laws and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Review building plans and permit applications to confirm compliance with local and state building codes
  • Conduct on-site inspections of construction projects to ensure adherence to approved plans and applicable codes
  • Communicate code requirements clearly to architects, contractors, and property owners, providing guidance on necessary changes or adjustments
  • Issue violation notices or stop-work orders for projects that fail to meet code standards
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, reviews, and enforcement actions
  • Stay current on building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards, applying updates as necessary
  • Collaborate with other inspectors, engineers, and enforcement officers to address complex code issues
Qualifications:
  • REQUIREDICC (Internation Code Council) Certification as Building Code Plan Examiner / Reviewer
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building plan review, inspection, or code enforcement
  • Thorough understanding of local and state building codes, zoning regulations, and construction safety standards
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for accurately reviewing plans and conducting inspections
  • Excellent communication skills for clearly conveying code requirements and violations
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on-site inspections
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Additional certifications in related fields, such as Plumbing, Mechanical, or Electrical Inspections
  • Experience with both residential and commercial building projects
  • Familiarity with permitting software and electronic plan review systems
