Position Summary:

At Thrive Behavioral Health Center, we deliver industry-leading peer support for those suffering from Mental Health and/or Substance Use Disorders.  We are proud to set the industry standard and continue our growth. A Billing Specialist is responsible for processing all health insurance claims for the company. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures correct billing codes and patient information in the Electronic Medical Record system

  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software to third party payers

  • Reconcile and apply insurance payments to correct patient invoices

  • Monitor and collect delinquent accounts by following up with insurance providers and claim resubmission within a standard timeframe

  • Contact payers regarding payment discrepancies

  • Assist with enhancing and automating the billing process where it makes sense

  • Ensure audit readiness at all times to maintain compliance within the billing process

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations

  • Other duties as assigned 


Requirements:

  • At least one year experience in medical billing, accounts receivable or medical office setting

  • Experience dealing with financial information

  • Knowledge of insurance guidelines and  payor requirements, particularly Medicaid

  • Understanding of billing software and electronic medical records

  • Familiarity with medical billing and CPT and ICD-10 coding

  • Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said

  • Proficient level of ability with computer; Microsoft Office Products

  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate information clearly

  • Attention to detail


Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
