This position is for our Wasco region which covers Shafter, Wasco, Delano, McFarland, Earlimart, and surrounding areas.
Position Summary
The Behavioral Interventionist (BI) provides clinical skills instruction and implements behavior reduction protocols based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related developmental disabilities. Services may be provided in one or more of the following settings: home, clinic, and community. The Behavioral Interventionist collects and records data, assists with parent/caregiver training, and supports supervisory staff as needed. Qualifications & Skills
- No experience required; experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
- Valid California driver’s license and reliable vehicle with proof of auto insurance (in employee’s name)
- Willingness to travel between job sites within the Bakersfield and Wasco regions
- Availability to work a minimum of 16 hours per week during business hours:
- Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Saturday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
- Ability to pass fingerprinting and/or background check as required by California law
- Ability to pass a TB test and provide clearance
- Energetic, motivated, and coachable
- Ability to accept and implement constructive feedback
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to multitask
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with clients, families, co-workers, and supervisors
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide direct client care in 1:1 and group settings using a combination of intensive teaching strategies and Natural Environment Training (NET)
- Implement prescribed skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols as written by supervisory staff
- Follow and accurately record data for toilet training and other behavior programs
- Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior
- Assist with parent and caregiver training in accordance with the client’s individualized treatment plan
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents and caregivers regarding client progress, as directed by supervisors
- Utilize safe, appropriate, and approved behavior management and handling procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all applicable privacy laws
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapy and work environment
- Collaborate with the treatment team, including clients, parents/caregivers, supervisors, co-workers, and outside professionals
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to clinical skills, ethics, technology, and professional growth
- Perform job duties in accordance with company policies, ethical guidelines, and state regulations
