Behavioral Health Technician-Community Health Center
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct supervision of Community Health Center (CHC) patients. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The Behavioral Health Technician will report directly to the Clinic Practice Manager and is expected to work closely with all clinical, medical, and other staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive substance abuse treatment services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES
It is the duty and responsibility of the Behavioral Health Technician to:
· ensure clients are compliant while seeking services at the CHC;
· ensure clients are making it to their appointments on time;
· ensure a safe environment for clients;
· exercise therapeutic communication skills;
· take steps to de-escalate distressed clients;
· observe and document client behavior;
· monitor clients’ physical well-being;
· possess adequate skills to assess situations related to relapse and to provide access to appropriate medical care when needed;
· function as client advocate;
· monitor residents to ensure their safety at all times;
· receive and pass verbal and written feedback to clinical, medical, and other staff as requested about client activity and behaviors;
· complete all Incident Reports prior to the end of scheduled shift as required by Incident Policy and Procedure;
· complete facility security rounds and ensure all doors and gates are locked and secured when appropriate;
· submit shift reports to Clinic Practice Manager throughout shift via email as requested;
· contact the Clinic Practice Manager in the event of a fire or evacuation of the treatment facility as required;
· assist with other program functions as requested by Clinic Practice Manager including but not limited to transportation and monitoring of the front desk; and
· perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to be on feet and walk around 80-85% of shift to secure facility and supervise clients. Must be able to perform some minor lifting (5-10 lbs.).
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed throughout the treatment facility, which is climate controlled. Employees do not have private or personal work space.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum qualifications include the following:
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Valid Divers License
· 2 years of Behavioral Health Tech in Acute Psych and substance abuse treatment experience
· CPI de-escalation training knowledge
· Proficient in MS Office 365 Suite
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Candidates in recovery must have 2 plus years of sobriety.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include the following:
· Bachelor’s Degree in related field (social work, psychology, education)
· 3 plus years of Behavioral Health Tech experience in Acute Psych
· Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholic Anonymous principles
