Behavioral Health Counselor
The Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) provides day-to-day behavioral health services and care to the patients of the Center.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Serve as BH provider for the Center and its satellites.
• Assists with the establishment of behavioral health care standards and protocols for each service described in the Center's health care plan and to ensure quality of service: to assist with development of the Center's behavioral health care plan with the assistance of staff to ensure that all goals and objectives are outlined.
• Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the patients seen in the manner that ensures effective and efficient performance.
• Operate within the parameters of a written position description that complies with the Center's policies, rules, and regulations. Establishes appropriate systems to assure quality of patient care.
• See that the Quality Assurance Protocols, HIPAA, Corporate Compliance and CLIA standards are adhered to.
• Establishes appropriate systems to assure the quality of patient care.
• Adheres to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
• Records complete, timely and legible medical records using an electronic medical recording system.
• Maintains effective working relationships.
• Communicates in a professional manner with others.
• Attend behavioral health meetings.
• Or other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by BH provider's supervisor.
Clinical Responsibilities:
• Manages individual patient care activities at the Center.
• Confers with Director of Behavioral Health, Director of Clinical Operations, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and CEO as needed.
• Consults with members of the provider staff on clinical issues for continuity of patient care.
• Assures safety and adequate maintenance of Center's medical records.
• Provides behavioral health services to patients at the Center as scheduled.
• Engage in quality assurance activities to ensure health care records are accurate and complete.
• Provides patient referrals for community providers as needed.
• The provider shall refer and coordinate in-patient hospitalization for the Center's patients at the hospital of the patient's choice and/or at a facility as required pursuant to insurance contact guidelines.
Professional Liaison Functions:
• Establish links with public and private clinical referral sources.
• Conducts or coordinates activities designated to promote the community's awareness of the Center's health care program.
• Conducts or coordinates activities designed to mobilize community resources behind health promotion
Qualifications:
• Has valid licensure by the South Carolina Board of Social Work Examiners.
• Be "public health" oriented.
• Be full-time Center employee.
• Have excellent communication skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the job, such as clearly communicating with multiple personnel and patients.
• Must be able to manage stressful situations.
• Excellent organizational skills necessary.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with patients and colleagues.
• Good computer skills.
• Demonstrates a serious commitment to accuracy and quality while meeting goals or deadlines.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
