Bavarian Inn Lodge Server
FUNCTION:
Responsible for the setting up and preparation
of Oma’s, Brunch, Room Service, and Breaks. Will assist with setting up private
banquet areas, the service of food and beverages to customers, collecting
money, periodically reading waitress/waiter manual, attending all wait staff
meetings on a monthly basis and general cleaning up of the dining areas and
kitchen, promotes monthly dining room and bar specials along with other
departments of the Lodge, gives prompt and professional service to guests. Will
help other departments when needed. Will help maintain equipment and keep
things looking nice.
WORK PERFORMED:
1. Prepares for guest arrival in dining rooms or for private parties.
a. Re-arranges tables and chairs as necessary and sets tables with proper condiments and table settings. Takes food orders in sequence. Check for special orders (e.g. tortes) and form of payment (e.g. separate checks, one check,
b. Checks in with Hostess or Banquet Coordinator. Re-arrange tables for guest with comfort and safety in mind. Sets tables with napkin, fork, knife and spoon.
2. Serves dinners and beverages to customers and collects payment.
a. When party has been seated, greets guest or acknowledges their presence within one minute, Promotes menu, suggest beverage and appetizers. Removes extra settings, takes bar and other Beverage orders, and serves them.
b. Takes dinner orders, suggest specials, appetizers, soups, salads and beverage in order to increase sales.
c. Is familiar with preparation of meals to answer questions regarding menu items and ingredients for allergies and help with guest selection.
d. Rings up order on digital dining computer.
e. Serves dinners according to procedures outlined in training manual, refills beverages and water glasses.
f. Pre-busses table as needed after each course.
g. Takes dessert orders and serves desserts. Refills beverage and water glasses as necessary.
h. Totals the check and presents it to the guest on a tip tray and comment card.
i. Confirms with the guest the amount given to pay for the check and obtains signatures as needed
j. Server banks, returns change and receipt to guest on tip tray.
k. Clears table, sorts out useable food, scrapes all food off plates into trash can and sort and rack dishes neatly on dish tank.
l. Resets table for next customer. Clean and sanitize tables along with wiping off Booth Cushions with warm water only.
m. Administers all sales of alcoholic beverages in accordance to the Laws of Michigan and the policies of the Bavarian Inn lodge. Does not serve obviously intoxicated persons. Checks all ID’s for legal drinking age.
n. Stack trays in a safe manner to avoid injury, unloads trays in a manner to avoid breakage
3. Assists in cleaning at all times.
a. Clears all tables.
b. Replaces table and chairs as necessary.
c. Sets up table according to procedures in training manual, folds napkins.
d. Vacuums floors in dining areas thoroughly by moving tables, chairs and booths. Sweeping out from hard to reach areas.
e. Wipes and straightens salt and pepper areas daily.
f. Wipes booths and chairs with warm water and the sanitizer after each guest.
g. Hand wash the buffet tile.
4. Promotes our facilities to increase sales and spread good will.
5. Maintains thorough knowledge of area facilities and attractions in order to answer customer inquiries.
6. Makes conversation with parties when other duties and all tables are serviced, promotes activities and other areas of the Lodge.
7. Will ask for assistance when needed to maintain service levels.
8. Assists in maintaining a clean and sanitary work area at all times by following checklists, cleaning and organizing work areas, using common sense and proper storage. Check cooler for day dotting items.
9. Maintains thorough knowledge of menu items, beverage items and prices to answer questions and help the guests with their selections and assist new employees with training and questions they may have.
10. Provides exceptional service to our guests on a daily basis. This is done by having a desire to make others happy, having a positive attitude: being the best you can at your job and anticipating your guest’s needs and expectations and calling the guest by name.
11. Works in a safe manner at all times and eliminates or reports unsafe conditions to those responsible for that particular area when necessary.
12. Always treats guest and employee safety as the Highest Priority.
13. Attends monthly departmental meetings.
14. Upsells to get a higher check average. Sells Perks Club memberships to guests. Hands out comment cards to every table.
15. Be familiar with seating guests and writing down proper covers on Cover Sheets. Takes room service and take-out orders.
16. May be scheduled to wait tables in the Lounge, Biergarten, or to run drink to the CTYD pool.
17. Assists new team members with any questions they might have.
18. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
· 18 years or older. High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Minimum six months experience in waiting tables to attain knowledge of procedures and areas preferred.
· Ability to stand and walk continually.
· Ability to lift trays and other containers of moderate weights up to 50 #; according to training procedures.
· Ability to work different schedules and attend monthly and corporate meetings.
