The Holiday Inn Omaha Downtown located at 1420 Cuming Street is in search of a Banquet Manager. This is a full-time position at the hotel. Hours could generate from our banquets, events or in house restaurant. The hotel is operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year so a person must have a flexible schedule to include mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Job Overview

The Banquet Manager oversees the banquet functions and provides leadership and directions to banquet staff.  This individual will do this by achieving customer satisfaction, maintaining quality service, complying with corporate and franchise policies and procedures, as well as meeting and exceeding the company's financial goals. The position is also responsible for the short-term planning and the day-to-day operations of the banquet space. It is up to the Banquet Manager to ensure dining tables, food, and beverages are ready prior to an event. Once an event is complete, they also assure the tear down and cleanup of the event.  Please note some hours will come from our restaurant operations such as serving.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Sales Team & Food and Beverage Team to analyze banquet event orders for upcoming events
  • Communicate effectively with customers, managers, and associates to ensure the room setup, equipment, supplies, menus, and staffing meet or exceed the customer's expectations
  • Organize workflow to guarantee a quality event to customers on a daily basis
  • Resolve daily operational problems through constant monitoring of banquet operations to verify compliance with safety and security regulations
  • Participate in all special projects and committees, as required

Job Qualifications

  • Must have a good knowledge of basic banquet operations
  • Outstanding customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills with the ability to carry out tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong team leadership skills
  • Basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse personalities in a tactful, decisive, and resourceful manner

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Must be able to do all room sets
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Must be able to work shifts over 8 hours
