The Auto Physical Damage Claims Specialist is responsible for performing the duties outlined below and will work directly with the casualty claims department on existing physical damage claims. 

This position will report directly to the Casualty Claims Manager. 


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Investigate automobile insurance claims to determine coverage and damages. Review contract terms, coverage limits, and exclusions to determine the applicability of coverage to each claim. 
  • Interact and collaborate directly with clients, claimants, agents, repair facilities, service providers, and attorneys to explain the repair or total loss process. 
  • Appraise damaged vehicles and their equipment using claims estimating software and determine claims related damages. Complete fair and accurate repair estimates virtually, adjusts repair facility estimates, or assign independent adjusters when necessary. 
  • Manage repair process and adjust supplements as necessary. Issue payments when required. 
  • Complete vehicle total loss valuations. Explain total loss salvage release from client or third-party claimant. Mitigate storage costs by arranging transport of units to storage-free facility and/or negotiating agreed rate with tow facility. 
  • Maintain accurate and detailed claim files, documentation, and activity logs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements. 
  • Review facts of loss and vehicle damage to determine if subrogation opportunities exist and send related support and demand to responsible parties or their carriers. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 



REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school graduate - some college or insurance related education preferred.
  • At least 2 years claims experience with a preference of auto physical damage experience and handling commercial trucking and specialty heavy equipment claims.
  • Current technical knowledge of auto collision repair techniques and standards.
  • Working experience in one or more estimating platforms, such as: CCC One, Mitchell, and/or Audatex.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and negotiation abilities.
  • Familiar with a variety of insurance claim concepts, practices, and procedures. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, and Excel.
