JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for representing the Comlux Engineering Department to both internal and external customers.  The Project Engineer shall coordinate the efforts of various teams of engineers in the development and management of VIP Aircraft Interior Completions projects.  The Project Engineer will perform project-level scheduling, reporting, and financial tracking; and, will facilitate progress for the team ensuring that projects are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner, including working across various functional groups (Furnishings, Structures, Mechanical Systems, Electrical), Outside Service providers, and Civil Aviation Authorities to accomplish goals.

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide Engineering Liaison support; independently make decisions concerning engineering/production discrepancies and successfully resolve fit, form, and function issues while understanding the limitations of manufacturing and methods.
  2. Creates designs for interior completions in accordance with aircraft manufacturer guidelines and engineering best practices.
  3. Interfaces with structural, mechanical systems, interior, avionics and electrical design engineers to ensure certifiable designs in support of Interior Modification STCs for Large Transport category Aircraft (14 CFR/EASA Part 25).
  4. Within a multi-function, matrix organization, manages all systems for integrated project scheduling, planning, and project control to optimize resource allocation and cost and schedule requirements for all projects.
  5. Ensures that all influencing organizations including the executive, leadership and accounting management groups have cohesive and common visibility to the department demands to enable proper prioritization and/or staffing decisions through visibility to Comlux Engineering Department project plans.
  6. Develops integrated management framework for and processes for project planning and execution phases across the enterprise, departments, and across multiple Comlux teams. Coordinates closely with Group Leads and Program Managers to develop, monitor, perform risk assessment, and execute program plans prior to formal authorization for engineering commencement.
  7. Prepares plans, reports and presentations to communicate to program teams and leadership the performance status of the enterprise against customer and program commitments.
  8. Generates and maintains execution plans, schedules and supporting budgets for projects.
  9. Provides and/or coordinates the technical interface to key Outside Service Vendors (OSV).
  10. Contributes to and develops Internal Operating Procedures (IOP).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, ETC:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering and 8 years of directly related experience or 12 years directly related experience.

2.      Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Aircraft Completion, Project Planning, Management, and Certification.

3.      Experience implementing management & administration tools, systems & training for project control, tracking & reporting. 

  1. Valid Passport with the ability to travel in and out of the United States.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Computer Aided Drafting/Design (AutoCAD preferred), Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook MS Project, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer
  2. Aviation background and aircraft interior experience preferred. 
  3. Knowledge of mechanical design and documentation standards.
  4. Budget and project management experience required.
  5. Ability to work independently and cross-functionally.
  6. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong time-management and organizational skills.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment described here is representative of those required by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

The office building where this position works is a typical office environment with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues in the immediate vicinity of the work station. The employee in this position will experience occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold, and environmental elements when called upon to locate personnel working inside or outside of a Hangar.
