Position Overview

The Surgical Navigation Clinical Specialist provides real-time, intraoperative support to surgeons using advanced image-guided navigation technology across neurosurgery, spine, and ENT procedures.

This role is critical to ensuring surgical accuracy, optimizing workflow efficiency, and supporting positive patient outcomes. The ideal candidate thrives in high-pressure environments, demonstrates strong clinical and technical judgment, and operates as a trusted partner within the operating room.

A Day in the Life

Preparation: The day typically begins early (often 6:00 a.m.) but can start later depending on the hospital’s schedule. Prior to the surgery, the clinical specialist loads and reviews the MRI and/or CT scans and performs the preoperative planning for the procedure. Our specialists work closely with the surgical team, including nurses, anesthesiologists, and operating room technicians to prepare for the day's procedure(s).

Surgery: The primary focus of a clinical specialist's day is assisting with the navigation guidance during surgeries. This allows the surgeons to see in real-time where their instruments are in the patient’s body by using an overlay on the 3D images of the patient's anatomy. Procedures may include brain tumor resections, epilepsy surgeries, deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantations, spinal fusions, or sinus procedures.

End of Day: After the surgical procedure, our specialists ensure the equipment is cleaned and put away. This includes the instruments and the trays associated with the instruments. Depending on the day's surgical schedule, our experts may also provide assistance in other navigated surgeries within the current facility or at different locations. This role demands adaptability due to its ever-changing schedule.
