General Purpose: The Assistant Produce Manager is the second line leader of the Produce Department, essential to help in leadership, organization, merchandizing, and team development.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, weekend work required. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities & Duties:

· Team Leadership

· Team development and training

· Scheduling, occasionally

· Loss Prevention

· Merchandising

· Cleanliness and organization of Produce Department

· Shrink management

· Use bailer, pallet jacks and forklifts in compliance with company safety policy

· Safe use of cleaning equipment and chemicals

· Product Freshness Management

· The safety procedures used in the operation of the baler, case cutter, pallet jack, forklift, knife, garbage disposal, juicer, pineapple corer, scales and wrapper (must be 18 years or older to operate the pallet jack, forklift, and baler).

· Department Maintenance – signs, lights, etc.

· The checking of case and cooler temperatures three times daily

· Understand and practice store safety rules and notifying a Store Manager of any potential hazard immediately.

· Compute the retail price from cost, complete price changed—PLU file and scale system maintenance, supervise the manual price marking/labeling of merchandise without a UPA code.

· Perform price checks and update prices daily.

· Communicate with the Department Manager on problems, recommendations for change, effectiveness of plans and merchandising decisions.

· Conduct department meetings to review merchandising, sales planning, and operational problems, keeping associates informed about matters that concern them on the job.

· Perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the Store and/or Grocery Manager, substituting for absent workers and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers during peak periods of business.

Required Education / Experience:

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

· Must have demonstrated leadership abilities.

· Must have ability to effectively work with people in a team environment and at various levels of the organization.

· Must possess strong communication skills.

· 1+ Years Produce Department experience

· Must be a problem solver, solutions oriented

Physical Demands

· Work on tile or concrete standing for extended periods of time

· Lift a maximum of 50 lbs. from 6 inches to 84 inches, overhead

· Move a maximum of 50 lbs. up to 15 yards

· Use maintenance and product transportation equipment

· Reach forward and/or down with both hands up to 36 inches

· Handle labels, signs or tags, case cutter or utility knife, grasp and handle wet, iced, cold, metal, paper, plastic products, cardboard, packaging, and debris.

· Bend and Twist at the waist while reaching and holding items

· Climb on ladders, racks, cases, shelving, and stairs up to three feet in height.

· Balance on wet, slick, dirty and debris strewn floors.
