Summary of the Role and Responsibilities: The Catering Event Supervisor is a pivotal role that will be responsible for assisting the Venue Coordinator and Wedding Assistant in front-of-house (FOH) staff and timeline management during event days. This role will assign and monitor FOH duties, ensuring all VIV MEE standards of excellence are met. They will also be responsible for proper close out of event spaces.


The Event Supervisor will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Catering Operations to ensure quality team performance through supporting training sessions, monitoring team performance during event days.


Responsibilities:

  • Promote and portray the VIVÂMEE Values
  • Know, understand, and adhere to company established policies and procedures.

Event Quality & Guest Delight:

  • Possess exceptional attention to detail and an eye for design.
  • Takes initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner and ensures all needs are met. Observes guests to fulfill any additional requests.
  • Assigns event day duties to FOH team and leads steps of service; ensures all FOH team members are ready for service.
  • Assists Venue Coordinator in ensuring event spaces are set to standards, including but not limited to proper station set up, guest table appearance, venue cleanliness and ambiance.
  • Notify Venue Coordinator and/or (Manager on Duty) MOD when staff is late or “no shows”.
  • Ensure all events are executed at the highest standards set by protocol.
  • Ensure that safety and security procedures are followed.
  • Model and communicate the VIV MEE Mission, Virtues and Values.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Ensure 100% participation of all catering teammates in weekly VIV MEE Virtues Training in order to maintain the unique version of hospitality that VIV MEE has promised to our guests and teammates.
  • Provide superior leadership, team building and mentoring to the FOH catering team.
  • Facilitate a safe work environment. 
  • Work closely with the Assistant Directors of Catering Operations to review and set up training material, goals and sessions.
  • Enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for FOH catering division.
  • Attend scheduled training sessions as required.

Facilities and Oversight

  • Display awareness and compliance with security, safety, emergency and energy procedures.
  • Follow all steps of service, design, set up and breakdown.
  • Notify Venue Coordinator and/or Assistant Directors and Director of Operations of any facilities issues.
  • Ensure inventory is properly managed and handled by FOH team..
  • Ensure proper close out of events, including but not limited to, clean up of all event spaces, equipment storage, lights, temperature settings, locked doors, sending event notes to Assistant Directors and Director of Catering Operations.
