POSITION SUMMARY
As the Assistant Controller, you will play a vital role in keeping the organization’s financial operations running smoothly and accurately. You’ll ensure financial reporting is completed on time, in full compliance with ASPE/IFRS standards, and that the accounting function consistently supports the business with reliable, high-quality information.
In this role, you’ll build strong relationships across operations and finance, working closely with teams to ensure day-to-day accounting activities, reconciliations, and processes are executed with precision. Your leadership and communication skills will help guide and support the finance team as you strengthen internal controls, streamline workflows, and contribute to a well-organized and efficient accounting environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead the month-end close processes including preparation of financial statements.
· Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts.
· Support budgeting and forecasting by providing historical spend details.
· Ensure compliance with internal policies, Canadian tax laws and regulatory standards.
· Coordinate the preparation of year-end financial statements with external accountant.
· Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks, highlighting variances and trends.
· Provide guidance and training to accounting team, fostering a team approach to accuracy and efficiency.
· Recommend and implement accounting policies and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
· Work with operations to maintain strong inventory and equipment management processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field; CPA designation (or CPA in progress) preferred.
· 3-5 years accounting experience, construction or project-based industry experience is an asset.
· FNFM Administration designation considered an asset.
· Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS) and tax regulations.
· Proficiency in accounting software (Eclipse or Construction based ERP is beneficial).
· Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, modeling).
