The Assistant Aquatics Manager has a professional obligation to prevent potential accidents by enforcing the rules and regulations of all Aquatics team members. This role is key to producing an atmosphere of friendliness and safety, while upholding standards set by the water park, Heather Department, Ellis & Associates and other relative entities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES which may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks

  • Must be able to fulfill all functions and duties of a Lifeguard and Aquatics Supervisor
  • Must be able to supervisor employees by, but not limited to: Conducting pre-shift and post-shift briefings the with Aquatics team (Lifeguards, Slide Attendants, Supervisors, etc.), Assigning rotations to ensure efficient and safe operations, Responding to alerts and requests from the Lifeguards, Ensuring Lifeguards follow Splash Lagoon's policies and procedures, Ensuring Lifeguards follow Ellis and Associate' policies and procedures, Issuing corrective action, up to and including termination
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with upper management regarding staffing, concerns (employee or operationally), suggestions, etc.
  • Must be able to assist guests with requests and questions regarding the facility
  • Must be able to assist with scheduling in the absence of the Aquatics Manager. This includes, but is not limited to: Adjusting the schedule to accommodate last-minute requests and needs, Approved shift-switches, Authorizing timesheets
  • Must be able to conduct Lifeguard classes and in-services as needed
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with team members to get feedback regarding their employment and working environment
  • Must be able to write and deliver reviews regarding performance, including goals to improve areas of concern
  • Must be able to set up and conduct interviews, hire qualified candidates and complete their onboarding process
  • Must be able to work as Manager-On-Duty (MOD) to supervise all aspects of the facility. This includes sending a nightly revenue report to ownership, as well as pulling numbers throughout the day as requested
  • Must be able to assist other departments in ensuring compliance of the facility's safety and operational policies. All areas of the Water Safety Program will be operated to work within the guidelines as stated by Jeff Ellis & Associates, our Insurance Provider, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and other organizations as needed.
  • Must be able to administer all office work, including but not limited to: In-service tracking, VATs, Rescue reports, Daily inspections, Lifeguard certification paperwork (Pectora)

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will assist and contribute to maintaining an environment that is both safe and pleasant for guests and team members
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will provide a high level of customer service (Aloha Spirit)
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager must wear approved uniform and any necessary job-related safety equipment during their assigned shift, or whenever on duty
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will monitor the condition of equipment used to ensure it is safe and guest-ready
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will maintain a clean working environment (guest spaces, Lifeguard stands, breakroom, First Aid, etc)
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will track inventory for uniforms, tubes, first aid supplies, etc.
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will work alongside the Maintenance team to ensure all rides are operated properly and in safe, working condition prior to opening
  • The Assistant Aquatics Manager will hold weekly supervisor meetings to communicate new information or changes, discuss challenges from the previous week and updated on the coming week

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must have at least 1 year of experience managing an Aquatics Facility.
  • Experience working with a Jeff Ellis & Associates Facility (Pool, Water Park, Etc.) is preferred.
  • Ability to properly and safely operate equipment.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Knowledge of the standards of care in aquatic industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to take direction from upper Management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with public, guests and staff members.
  • Must have emotional stability and the ability to make sound decisions that conform to facility policies when dealing in adverse situations.
  • Knowledge that their decisions may affect the total facility staff and the lives of others.
  • Must be firm, fair, consistent and courteous in order to gain the respect and cooperation of the public.
  • Must have a positive attitude in order to fully cooperate with other guards in a team effort, and adhere to rules and regulations to ensure successful operation of a facility.
  • Must have the physical and mental conditions necessary to be able to properly and timely activate and complete the EAP system in the case of an emergency.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be skilled in the use and care of supplied equipment.
  • Independent judgment concerning work methods and procedures is required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Prefer college BA/BS in business management or related field.
