(TMHC) provides a broad range of archaeological assessment, heritage planning and interpretation, cemetery, and community consultation services throughout the Province of Ontario. We specialize in providing heritage solutions that suit the past and present for a range of clients and intended audiences, while meeting the demands of the regulatory environment. Over the past two decades, TMHC has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned heritage consulting firms in Ontario and is today the largest predominately woman-owned Cultural Resource Management (CRM) business in Canada.
TMHC Inc. is accepting resumes for multiple positions within our Archaeology program for Archaeological Field Directors for the 2025 fall Field Season. Field Directors will participate in a wide range of archaeological projects including field survey (test pitting, field walking), site testing, excavation, and documentation. This position will run from September 2025 to December 2025 as project demands and conditions allow. There will be opportunity for successful Field Directors to return for the 2026 season.
Responsibilities
· Supervise the completion of Stage 1-4 fieldwork following the 2011 Standards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists
· Carry out basic archaeological fieldwork tasks (test pitting, pedestrian survey, unit excavation, feature excavation and documentation)
· Maintain quality control of fieldwork and data
· Work with Indigenous and Descendant community representatives to develop and maintain respectful and professional relationships
· Supervise and mentor field crew
· Ensure adherence to health and safety policies and requirements
Requirements
· Valid Applied Research (R) Licence issued by the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism (MCM).
· 2+ years' experience field directing in archaeology and archaeological field methods
· Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions
· Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude
· Extensive outdoor work, requiring the ability to walk and stand on varied terrains for prolonged periods of time
· Take direction from Project Managers and Principals of TMHC Inc.
· Willingness to engage in diverse projects across Ontario; this role may require travel and overnight stays for off-site assignments
· Full G Class Driver’s licence in good standing is an asset but not required
· Obtaining and maintaining security clearances as required by TMHC clients
· Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude
· Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions
Salary Range
- $29.50 per hour to $33.50 per hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications
